The short-term employee was a consequence of the strategy, at least in part.

If it is that, that has caused the tension, then perhaps they were not the correct picks, or at least the closest available possible picks at the time.

Strategy is all-important, coaches are replaceable.

It is. But let’s not think for a second that the strategy has always been spot on since Speakman arrived. There have been some clangers and Neil’s appointment was a fortunate consequence of a fortnight of clangers.

I think it’s going to be hard to find a competent coach at championship level as good as Neil that will be happy with ceding control and embarking on a recruitment campaign that predominantly focuses on bringing very inexperienced players.

I hope that whatever materialises here doesn’t derail us significantly. It’s mental that this is even under discussion at this stage

Would they not respond to another manager in the same way? Dyche for example?
When was the last time our players ran through brick walls for a manager? Allardyce.

If we won’t pay Neil what he wants why would we pay Dyche.

We’d end up with an absolute journeyman. It’s what’ we do

He done the same at Preston too, for the same reasons.

Maybe things aren't to his liking in terms of control of feeling hes being supported ( but as you say its unlikely it would at Stoke) maybe it's his family or maybe it's a steaming pile of crap. I guess we'll find out soon enough.
Did Alec travel there on the eve of a game with his current side in the top 5 does anyone know

Was it as bad Perry?
