Sunderland have agreed talks for AN by Stoke

I'm genuinely baffled as to what Stoke bring to the negotiating table that we don't? Isn't going to Stoke a sideways move, at best? Or am I missing something?

A short-term employee should not be given the keys to long-term decisions.

Strategy is working great at the minute and we have come a very long way in a short space of time.

We’ve come a relatively long way, in precisely the amount of time AN has been here.

He is the reason things improved. Before he arrived, the clubs trajectory was either flat or down.

More money and autonomy.

Which, incidentally, have to be the two biggest priorities for any self-respecting manager.

Let’s hope AN ends up using this to negotiate both from us. We’ll be better off for it.

He's done a fantastic job so far, and that should never be forgotten given the shambles he walked into, but even if he ends up signing a new deal he's gone right down in my estimation regardless of whatever issues there are behind the scenes.

This is the thing now isn’t it?

Goes to Stoke and it’s a nightmare leaving us in a bit of chaos. Stays on better terms and he’s used Stoke City’s situation to strengthen his own hand. Whist I like him, I’m not keen on that conduct at SAFC.
