This situation is doing me in

Big Sam - Right bloke right time - Poached by England !

Alex Neil - Right bloke right time - Potentially away !

WTF is going on ? :(

Whats he actually done?

Everything on here, and in the media is hearsay.

This, everyone is potentially pissing their knickers over nothing.

he has 6 months left on his contract. he can talk to who he wants

media and bookies spin things. especially a media outlet with a bookmaking arm of its business

will be at sunderland at the end of the day on a better contract that at the start of it.

I can still get 4/9 on Skybet. I have £54 in my account. I take it from this thread I should whack another couple of hundred into my account and stick the lot on him?

There's been plenty of evidence over the last 12 months that the club is still an utter shitshow behind the scenes but even taking that into account, going to Stoke would seem like a mental choice at this stage of his career when his stock is probably as high as it's been at any point since he got Norwich into the Premier League.

Massively disappointed in both parties regardless of how this all ends up.

No he insisted on the rolling contract.

If you've got belief in yourself you're not going to take any old job as it could he damaging to your future prospect. He obviously had enough belief that he could organise the abortion Johnson had left into something half decent.
Job security is a big thing these days. Can't blame him for being interested in a longer contract in football elsewhere. Anyone on here would do the same. It's a no brainer for him. He's done well at Sunderland, he's in the shop window and will be attractive for clubs given they won't have to pay much compensation for him.

He apparently did exactly that at Preston, then signed a new contract for them.

The difference this time is if he comes back with an offer for 3+ years and X amount, plus the key thing being autonomy to bring in players he solely wants, it's going to be impossible for us to match that under our current model.

We cant refuse permission. Hes not on a contract.

Hes working like an agency worker.
Yep I assume permission to speak to other clubs was part of the 12 month rolling contract. I would suspect it was intended for a bigger club coming in for him.

I personally don't think he would leave us to go to Stoke, but you never know. The optimistic side of me says he talks to them to see what they would offer, and then comes back to KLD and plays his hand. Then it is up to us to match the ambition of Stoke. If we do that we keep him. All down to our ambition. I guess later today we will find out.

Sorry, but this is a f***ing shambles. The fault is with the club as the rolling contract was yet another penny pinching load of shite.

Neil has to do what is best for him. If Stoke are offering a four year deal for example, it gives him and his family security.

Make no mistake, if he goes then KLD and the new ownership are to blame. People will be rightly pissed off
