Leicestershire v Durham RL50

I have no idea how a competition where we finished bottom losing 7 out of the 8 hands can be described as "encouraging" or "successful", even if some of the young players showed some promise.
I would have thought my post was self-explanatory. Several young players have adapted to the higher level of cricket. I regard that as encouraging and their adaptation successful.

I understood your post, which is why I disagreed with it.

It's good that the younger players came in (to be fair the club's hand was forced in that respect) but we finished bottom with only one win. In my mind there's no way that could be considered even a marginally successful campaign.

I haven't followed closely the teams other counties have been putting out but I imagine many of them will have similarly had to give their younger players a chance and ended up with better results to us.

The young lads did well, but to a pretty large degree the senior players didn't step up at all throughout the campaign hence the crap results

Fair enough. I'd agree if we'd been soundly beaten in most games but we took most games to the wire. Results wise it certainly wasn't successful but equally likes of Gibson,Macintosh, Maclinden, even rookie Killeen will have benefited from the experience. In that context it was successful and,to be fair,I did put the success into that context in my original post.
Most teams were weakened but most retained one, at least, of their overseas who contributed significantly. I'll say no more on that.
