I was watching a lot of Scottish Football around that time and what he did at Hamilton as player manager was outstanding. The win v Hibs in the play offs was epic.

I told a Norwich fan at work that he would do well for them when he got the job there, He barely knew who Alex Neil was.

My Norwich supporting mate said he's excellent tactically. If he plays a side that outdoes him in the first game of the season, he invariably gets the better of them or cancels them out in the second meeting as he has learned how they tick.
 
I was completely naive and wrong about him, I didn't know how tactically astute he was and just presumed he was a negative, dour manager when we appointed him.

His record with us so far is outstanding, 24 games, 12 wins, 9 draws and only three defeats. The defeats were with a half arsed side against Sheffield Wednesday in the league cup, Sheffield United with 10 men and MK Dons at home a week into his reign.

He's a brilliant fit for us and I wouldn't swap him for any other manager in the Championship. I think he knows we are onto something this season too, but playing the media and fans with a straight bat to keep expectations and pressure off the players.

Complete opposite to the waffle and bullshit we have been served up time and time again since we basically lost Allardyce.

I've got 100% faith in him going into every game we play that we can get a result. If and when we lose games it'll be down to indivdual errors or moments of brilliance from the opposition, We have seen that already on occasions where we have dropped points. I don't think we will be tactically outclassed for 90 minutes off another team due to other managers being better in this league.

Class video mate. I remember that well. I remember Martin Canning was his big centre half and captain. Tony Andreu was class and their star player wasn't he. He took him to Norwich with him but Andreu didn't do much at Norwich did he.

except I forgot about Matete and Wright - but apart from them, Simms and O'nien- every player who got onto the pitch vs stoke was in the january matchday squad that lost 6-0 to Bolton

my point is just that Neil is doing all of this, with basically the same squad the Johnson had

Jenas does that on MoTD. I like him but it irritates me a bit.

He is brilliant at keeping expectations in tow mind. Never lets anyone get carried away. Seems to have a very calm demeanour which has rubbed off on all areas of the club very well.

Tactically, he is amongst the top few managers in the Championship imo.

How much of it is astuteness and how much is luck?

We have played very well but have rode our luck. Look at Stoke. I look at the results. Another fan looks more into the performances. Of us two I would be the happier. We won. End of. But according to many on here the first half wasn’t good. It was the brilliant goal scoring ability of Ross Stewart who won us the game. Other games however we have played well but for some reason the opponents have gotten the better of us like the two Sheffield games.

AN needs to be able to put games to bed. We need to be able to finish off teams when we start the brighter.

Once he does that he will be a legend.
