He was a good keeper at Burnley but the mags already had a good keeper who won them many points with lots of saves a game in Dubrafka however you spell it, but good competition. Pickford always raises his game for England and is number 1, think Pope will be fighting it out with Ramsdale and Henderson for 2nd and 3rd keeper spots.

pickford is englands number one as he is the best english keeper and also has a very good record for england. rarely puts a foot wrong, and has played blinders for england time and time again

however, the second he makes a mistake in an england game, the floodgates will open. comments like 'never good enough' 'always a mistake in him' 'too erratic' etc..

conveniently forgetting that every single goalkeeper that has ever played the game has made mistakes and had bad games. it won't matter, he'll be public enemy number one for a short while

he was arguably player of the tournament for england in both of the last 2 major tournamnets. was phenomenal at the world cup, and didn't concede a goal until the semi final at the euros, and saved 2 penna's in the final

Think he's a decent enough bottom half keeper that makes a ton of saves because Burnley are shite and allow a ton of shots. People suggesting him going to Man United or Chelsea years ago was mad. Not as good as Pickford or Ramsdale. Don't particularly think Ben Mee, James Tarkowski or Michael Keane are good either and get themselves exposed when they aren't in a tight compact defensive shape where they have two sitting midfieldrs right on top of their own defence. Rating Burnley's defensive players never really seems to end well when they move on to other clubs.

Appears to have started well at the Mags though, fair play to him.

If you solely judge keepers on how they play for England then Pickford up amongst the best keepers we've ever had. Also his distribution is class ( see yesterday) Pope is very good but I can't see him displacing Pickford for the WC

He won’t even be 2nd choice keeper that’s Ramsdale as bad as he was for England v Hungary
