Hundred viewing figures down by half

If you had watched a single delivery of the Hundred then you would know that there aren't 16.4 of anything as overs don't exist.

I have a lot of problems with the format and its presentation but a lot of the criticism comes from people who have never watched it.
That’s because their made up their mind about the tournament before one ball was even bowled!!

That is clear as day!

And it doesn’t matter what is on show or how good a game of cricket is on show a angle is found to have a go at it.

Some valid some not.

As it's biggest fan has said, it's just the same as T20. So there's no need.

Yes, and the criticisms are not about the quality. As you have said, it's same old, same old.

The criticisms are that we've sacrificed everything for a game nobody wanted, and that excludes half the country. But you already know this, and you're happy to support taking cricket away from people.
"...but different"

That'll be £1m please.

That point has been made repeatedly but the Hundred luvvies keep ignoring it presumably because they haven't got a response to it.s

I think the collective shrug of shoulders and general 'so what?' to the the news that the Ashes will be moved to accommodate it, is the sign that the war is lost. It the Ashes isn't sacred then literally nothing else will be allowed to survive. They will win, and the game will die.

No professional cricket in the North East in a few years, such a tragedy.

Is there any evidence this tournament has increased participation and interest in kids playing cricket? That was one of the big positives being trotted out before it began about how it was going to "appeal to the youth"
Imagine going into a club store and buying a shirt with “Pom-Bears” on the front.
Not as bad as the old Pompey beanie baby top

Aye but people who don't go to games anyway don't care because they get to watch it on TV so it's fine, sod everyone else.

Lots of kids who get free tickets go apparently

I'm yet to see what is so simplified about it, that it's more accessible for new viewers. If anything it's increased in complexity. Unless it's all about the show and not the cricket, hence the graphics etc. Think the first game summed it up when they needed to delay the start due to the fireworks they set off creating a dense fog

I'm aware that the 16.4 doesn't have overs, but thanks for mansplaining.

And I have watched some - unfortunately we have it on sometimes at work. I said I'd rather not. So get back in your box, son.

Because Hundred lovies are thick as fuck. @Darlo1973

I only watch roy and livingstone.

now the season is up and running, that’s took my viewing. And then the test match starts tomorrow

I do hope the five weeks of not much red ball, doesn’t affect the players too much

Same here I always respect your and everybody’s else views and can 100% see where you coming from.

However my personal view is now ‘The Hundred’ has started I think it’s needs to be a success, as for me I care more about people getting involved in club cricket at a young each, and feel that live short format cricket in the summer holidays has a chance to achieve that!
My view is that the damage it's doing will accelerate with time, especially since elsewhere the global T20 circus is expanding and both of those are eating 1st class cricket's lunch! I'm not confident the authorities have the will nor the skill to protect the game.

Well there has been posts about the quality, maybe not by yourself.

People did make up their minds before a ball was bowled for the reasons you have said.

The only bits I've seen have been on bulletins and maybe 2 minutes the other night. 3rd or 4th ball I watched, a thick edge flies over a tiny boundary for 6 and the commentators lose their minds over how utterly amazing it was. Immediately turned over, load of shit.

Apart from that, I can't comment.

And yes, it's because cricket has been taken away from half the country due to this shite and because the game is being murdered in front of our eyes. You're fine with that, I'm not.
