Departures

Would be disappointed to see Dickson go, he's progress really well since he's been here.
Agreed, he's been a revelation this season. Somebody alluded to him not being happy in the north east and if that's the case then we just have to shake hands and wish him all the best. If it's because of anything else that's going on at the club I'll be pissed off.

I think it's inevitable Salisbury will leave, can never fault his effort when he plays and whilst he hasn't taken as many wickets as I'd hoped during his time, I think he's deserved more. If he goes then good luck. He's currently injured according to the club which is a shame.

Obviously Eckersley has gone which the club haven't announced yet.

Dickson leaving would be a kick in the balls but I wouldn't blame him for leaving.

Questions marks for me about Coughlin, I'm sure his contract is due?

A lot of changes needed and whoever is in charge of recruitment, it has to be done so much better.

The likes of Salisbury and Eckersley. Decent enough pros but shouldn't be huge losses. There's always a bit of shuffling around with county pros and picking up players equal to or better than them shouldn't be too difficult. Dickson is a real shame though. I hate seeing a player make obvious improvement with you and then leave.

They seem to be perfectly happy staffing the squad with bairns (although how much of this is deliberate and how much is down to Franklin alienating senior players and injuries is speculative)

TBF alot on here always say they want academy developed players over results but now our results reflect a stripped back squad it's not such a vocal issue

I'm happy to see the young lads getting game time, but I feel some are playing catch up when they should have had game time in the T20 as opposed to getting pulled out of NEPL games to merely carry drinks every T20 game (McAlindon for example). It's long overdue and has only just started happening, prior to that the season has been an disgrace to be honest. That said I still think some need more game time which we've mentioned. It will be a long process but senior players need to step up & help hence my concerns with the captaincy. You raise a good point regarding alienating senior players hence some younger players in the team now, I guess we'll never know to what extent that has been the case, likewise some have been forced due to injuries. The club will just promote it as "giving youth a chance"

There's a gap in the production line of a couple of years. There's no-one of 20-21-22 in the squad to make the step up, so we're throwing in the 18-19 year olds instead.

I'd love to know what went on with Jack Campbell mind, he was supposed to join up for the Blast after his exams finished, but he just didn't. And then he pops up a month later playing for Hants and nothing is said (apart from the short statement about his release). It's really strange.

That wasn't a pointed comment at you btw, i quotes you as my first paragraph was to you, the second a more general point about alot on here

Fair point about players ready although it's not entirely true, more through bad luck and incompetence (financially enforced anarl) the likes of Potts, carse, coughlin, Scott steel, Van meekeren in addition to what we have would make a hell of a difference

Dickson to Somerset and Salisbury to Leicester, allegedly.
Heard exactly the same from someone who works for the club on match days. Said Dickson wants to be down south to be closer to his newborn. Somerset deal already signed off so 100% gone at the end of the season
