FRIENDLY :: Lincolnshire v Durham

Let's be honest he could have said anything and you wouldn't have been happy

I attended last week because I wanted to hear someone speak passionately, speak about future plans, speak about what he thinks went wrong, critique himself, what could he have done better, maybe hear him say "well hindsight i should have given the younger players more of a chance in the T20"............... to say "we picked the best team" when we won 3 in 14 was just ludicrous and numerous people at the forum commented on this as well as on here after the event at how uncomfortable and all round hopeless he was that night. As a paying supporter how can it inspire me when a coach says he picked the best team when we won 3 out of 14 games? He was also very uncomfortable when I threw a few stats about Bushnell at him relating to him getting dropped for a county championship game having played well on debut and hitting 180 the week after for the 2nds. That is in no way rewarding success/good performances.

Unfortunately I left the members forum last week in the same opinion, he was exactly how I thought he would be and that is a real shame as I am very passionate about the club.

A lady spoke to me after the forum and said "do you feel inspired by that" in a sarcastic tone...... sort of tells you everything really.

As I said on the forum thread, Marcus North I felt spoke well, clear and sounded like someone who cared....... he went as far as saying the state of the balls is unacceptable in quite a passionate manner. None of that from Franklin, I can't imagine he inspires/motivates anyone to be honest and as have numerous folk on here said time and time again, walk round the ground, speak to members and 95% will offer you the same view/opinion. His results whilst at Durham suggest he isn't inspiring or motivating anyone.

You can motivate people as much as you like if they aren't good enough to take enough wickets it doesn't make much of a difference he's also not as hated as you make out at least be certain players

Whatever the reason is, we are much poorer than last season, and it can’t all be down to the balls, flat pitches etc. Something is not right. If this was our football team, we would be probably be suggesting a managerial shake up.

I was actually quietly confident at the start of the season, but it has been a bit of a let down so far. I think we are better than the results are currently showing.

And as I have said in an earlier post, Franklin’s performance at the members’ forum last week left a lot to be desired. The criticism he has received on here for that is entirely justified.

If they aren't good enough you then select different players/try different things.......... he didn't do any of that and again he claimed he picked the best team hence he deserves criticism as he wasn't prepared to try alternatives.

i have never once said he is "hated" (your word not mine) by certain players.

You also don't attend games so you can't really comment either way on that as you don't see things like body language etc.

You comment on the football of both Sunderland and Hartlepool and you don't go

I am a season ticket holder at Hartlepool. I occasionally watch Sunderland games but rarely comment.

You're trying to dismiss my opinion with regards to the views of the players.......... fact is nobody knows. What I can happily state as I attend all the games as others have also stated on here, is things like body language, walks round the pitch, the declaration issue, members views at games........ it's not painting a pretty picture as well as his performance at the members forum which most are saying

I swear I seen on a thread that you basically said you didn't go to many games last season, so you aren't going to comment on anything you don't go to like t 20 world cup or football world cup, you constantly call England cricket pathetic and embarassing even though you don't attend, you are part of reason I haven't been this season but we won't get into that.

You don't need to swear, I didn't go to as many games last season down at The Vic. I now have my season ticket back out again and very much looking forward to the game on Saturday.

The bold bit has made my day.

His face was an absolute picture when you quoted Bushnell's score for the 2nds. It was almost as if he had difficulty registering the fact that a member would be in possession of such information.

He was probably hearing it for the first time tbf.
"what is a second eleven?"
You’ve made a grown man scared to go somewhere for fear of bumping into you. Is that the sort of thing that makes you proud?

I've been to pretty much every game this season and I think I've walked past whed once, we've never spoken. I think it's quite ludicrous to claim you're avoiding going anywhere for fear of bumping into him (as much as it's a terrifying thought I'll grant you that)

YHPM…

It's the fixtures where him and North maybe show up for a couple of hours or so, do a circuit of the boundary and then pretend they are on their mobiles when encountering any of the 70 or so members who have turned up to watch.🤔
I hope the dog shits in his baitbox next time!
