FRIENDLY :: Lincolnshire v Durham

I presume he put Killeen in charge in his absence. Why not Walker and Gidman? Bit of a snub after what they achieved last year.
By all accounts Franklin had a major input into team selection for the RL50 last season even from afar. Yesterday's result can be ignored given that there are Bedingham, Dickson and Jones to come in to strengthen the batting.
What is obvious is there is a totally different body language between the players and coaches when Franklin isn't present. I've never heard Franklin say anything positive or constructive on how to improve performance. If a coach can't motivate players he's not doing his job.
Hence, FRANKLIN OUT.

How many team meetings/talks have you sat in on? Genuine question…
Genuine answer. I thought it would be obvious that I was referring to Franklin's responses to the media when questioned about a abject performances. Whatever he does say in team talks clearly doesn't have any positive effect. Can't say how my presence at team meetings is any way relevant.Franklin never makes eyeball contact when speaking, you'll never inspire with that form of communication.

It’s entirely relevant, because you’re basing his ‘motivational’ ability purely on what he says to the press.

Which is a ludicrous assumption.
As I've said before I believe in civility when exchanging views. We have differing views on Franklin's merits. That's no problem to me. What I posted was that judging by the low level of performances Franklin's pep talks aren't efffective. I refer you to 3rd sentence of #23.
Have a good year- and that's sincere.

What wasn’t ‘civil’ about what I posted?

Does the word ‘ludicrous’ offend you?
Certainly doesn't offend me. It's an insulting term particularly when you're quoting me incorrectly.I repeat my quote "what he does say in team talks clearly doesn't have any positive effect". Results prove that.

Not sure Bedingham or Dickson will be back from injury yet. Scotland have games on 10/13/14th August so don’t expect Jones to be available for all RL50 games. Coughlin and Salisbury also both injured I believe, perhaps Eckersley too? Not sure Lees is available either (Next text 17th August).
I could be wrong of course but my glass is feeling half empty atm.

You'd think at a members forum he would be trying to sound positive, upbeat and 'motivational' in a way, to the fans of the team he is in charge of. Judged on how he came across, i find it hard to believe he'd be particularly motivating. You can argue a team of grown adults (mainly) should be able to motivate itself but when backs are against the wall, youngsters are coming in, the team is coming off the field after a poor session then if the coach's job isn't to give them some impetus then i don't know what it is.

I obviously respect your opinion, but I’ve seen him at both members’ forums this season. He wasn’t too bad at the pre season one, but he was, as reported by others on here, completely uninspiring at the meeting last week. This was in complete contrast to Marcus North, who I was quite impressed with.

Obviously no idea what the players think or how he performs in motivating them, but as a member it concerns me just a bit.

Just speaking as I have found.

If the players need a boost, hopefully Killeen & co can give them it in the RL50. I’ll be a tad dischuffed if we can’t pull it round in that competition, given how well we did last year (and how much I and many others enjoyed it 😁). We shall see very soon!

at the risk of infuriating everyone because i'm not going to go into details but i have heard that at least one player has had a big falling out with him and will be leaving come the end of the season. as @The Red Telephone has said several times it's noticeable during games that certain players have no time for him. the answer about the non declaration against (glamgoran was it?) at our place was unconvincing and i think on the pitch you could see some pretty obvious signs that certain players we'rent happy about what happened.

i really think he HAS to go. we are in no position to lose players to keep an underperforming coach.

I’ve heard the same.

same fella franklin who said to me last week at the forum that he picked the best team for the T20........... we won 3 in 14 :lol::lol:. he was doing all he could to try and move away from answering it.

never have i seen someone so uncomfortable in front of a small audience as he was last week, he struggled to answer any questions properly. he owed marcus north a pint or 10 after that as north spoke very well.

the declaration question he was pushed several times for a straight answer and you could tell he was uncomfortable

Let's be honest he could have said anything and you wouldn't have been happy
