Strauss and his stupid ideas....

If I had to guess the 6 counties which will get the chop I'd be relatively confident it would be the current bottom 6 in division 2

Durham won’t be cut imo. I know there’s paranoia about it on here but it’s too important given our production of players, good ground etc.

Consensus seems to be that us and Somerset would get the next 100 franchises if it expands to ten, for example.

Pretty much what KP was saying should happen last Summer after the second NZ test.

Strauss at least has the nous to wait 12 months before going along with a KP idea.

So you stop going Coz a team are shit
I have just started going to the cricket and reading this forum due to change of work situation. I have had a season card for SAFC for many years.
So, the reason for the post is that people can, and many have over the years, stopped attending games, no matter what the sport, if they do not like the entertainment provided or if their team is shit. It is the same as a TV programme, if you get fed up, you don’t HAVE to watch it.

Oh I get what you are saying but not going because we are shit is fickel I had change of circumstance which is why I can't be a member that's fine, the op who I replied to pretty much said I can't have a opinion before coz I don't go to games let's see if he practices what he preaches.

Why don't the ECB just accept that domestic cricket is never going to be a cash cow? Giles Clarke got turned over by Stanford and was probably pisssed off that their invention of T20 cricket was not making the kind of money the IPL is making.

Truth is it never will. Cricket is the no1 sport in India whereas here its football. International cricket in England made the money. Remember the ECB reserves of £73m that they spanked away on this 100 shite? I can't see that ever being clawed back.

I'm also suspicious about this Reliance/Mumbai Indians tour. There was talk last year of ECB inviting Indian businessmen over to see the 100. Do they think they are going to invest here like they have just done with a franchise T20 in South Africa? Nah. If they like the 100 they'll form their own just like the IPL.
It's happening all over the cricketing world. Have a look at Australian domestic cricket it's dominated by the big bash with the Sheffield Shield played at the beginning and end of the season. The problem in this country is there is 18 professional teams it's just to many for the way cricket is going. That's before we even mention the power of the IPL and where that will be in 10 years.
£250....

Yup he will be well in with them. It simply won't be worth bothering with. Rather have a few holidays or go to Australia to see my brother instead.
Well if you want to watch 1st class cricket go in October or March.

I won't be paying money to watch a Franklin/North/ECB project.

The bigger point which you seem to be missing is that the only entity you’d be hurting by jacking it in would be Durham CCC.

This.

Regular readers will know just how pessimistic I am regarding FTECB and the future of Durham CCC’s existence BUT we’ve produced more England cricketers than any other county (except Yorkshire) since 2005.

Remember not going means you won't be entitled to a opinion that's what you said to me

who said anything about not going? Merely said I wouldn't purchase a membership.

I'd likely just attend the odd 50 over game/2nd XI cricket for as long as that lasts. It would be far less than the cost of a membership.

I remember going last time we were in Melbourne to the MCG. Cost about 5 dollars entry and we got a programme and ticket stub and I always remember "this big fella called John Hastings" playing and thought "he would be canny at Durham":lol:

Whilst I totally understand what you’re getting at, comparing football to cricket in this manner is akin to comparing bricks to chickens.

At least you're just "shit" and not involved in the biggest scandal to ever hit English cricket. Now that is sadly a horrible but necessary reason to stop watching the club you've supported since you were a lad...

I get that but feel this could just ruin county cricket and in my opinion could be perceived as a scandal

This could aye, but not North and Franklin and whoever being useless. I disliked Yorkshire under Gale and Moxon even before the off field stuff came out but never contemplated not going because of them
