Kubix Festival returns for 2022

Pretty sure Split was never seen again after that like. Not that I’m saying the Charlatans killed it.
Charlatans was 2011, PIL headlined 2012 which probably helped finish the Ashbooke stint with all the noise complaints (tbf they were still very audible in Park Lane). I thought they grew it well each year, improved the facilities, brought in bigger names. The first one in 2010 was mainly local bands.

They did one year in Mowbray Park with Dizzee Rascal but it wasn't nearly as good.

Aye, of course man, Mowbray Park. Although I could have sworn PiL was the year before the Charlatans. I thought the tent was a lot smaller.

Quite enjoyed the Mowbray Park one. The Dizzee Rascal set was tremendous.

The Mowbray one was great on the Saturday but the Sunday was pissing it down and people were still fucked off the Saturday so the atmosphere wasn't as good.

Still had some cracking bands on that one iirc - OCS, Gruff Rhys, Lake Poets, Maximo Park, The Cribs.

Which was the one where Willie Mason turned up?

I think I went to three of them, definitely missed the one with PIL cause I was on holiday, definitely went to the last one.

Can't work out which two I went to from the first three. One where there was stages facing each other and you just turned round and one where I think it was inside the Cricket Club.

Can tell when I had the bairn cause I can remember the ones after and the ones before are a blur lol

2010, based on this.

I remember seeing them. The lead singer was an absolute headcase. Or am I thinking of some other band? Dizzee in Mowbray Park was fantastic. Probably bankrupted the organisers!

Remember seeing Tom Vek in a stage which had a tent from memory.

The Sunday was a really good lineup but as other have said chucked it down so probably didn’t make much if any money off the bar.

They took a year break then held it at mowbray park with dizzie rascal, the cribs and Maximo park headlining. Still not as well attended as Kubix. Shame as mowbray and ashbrooke were a canny setting. Mind I much prefer herra country park for staggering home from

That was class when willy mason turned up and played. Think loads missed him as he was only announced an hour or so before playing due to someone else pulling out

Quite ironic that Friday night pop extravanga with no musicians at all is keeping the inde version with brilliant musicians solvent
Is that true? Maybe if people didn’t take the car and spent more on drink?
Great day yesterday, shame I missed glasvegas like. Card machines at bar went down at one point, luckily there was a clever lass there who took a fiver cash in hand for a neckoil. Roll on next year.
Supergrass or Manics would be great shouts for headliners.
We had one lass’ life when the machine went down. Said my mate was a lawyer and if they wouldn’t take cash the drinks were all free after 60 seconds. People at the bar joined in with the wheeze. She was flapping like fuck, bless her.

Surely the money spent on booze etc goes to the bars who have paid the promoters to be there.
