People need to calm down here . This thread has descended into borderline chaos.

People who don’t like it won’t watch it , it’s their entitlement .

Parallel to that , people who like it watch it.

End of thread man.
It's being shoved down their throats though 😬
female tennis players best of all time. tennis players not in the first 1000.

Comparing men and women in sport is ludicrous.
So despite the fact she's won more grand slams in history than all but one other tennis player, she doesn't make the top 1000 on your list?

But its like me questioning why the BBC are shoving Eastenders down my throat.

I don't like it, so I don't watch it. There's and audience for it, which is why its still on TV.

It's not really rocket science.
The thread is about the promotion and publicity afforded a sub par version of football in order to appear relevant. I'm a dinosaur, sue me.

As a tennis player she would not be in the top 1000. who in the top 1000 tennis in the game over the past 20 years would she beat?
Aye, nobody could complain about a balanced coverage.
BBC cannot afford to cover men's professional game so does promotes the women's game because it has coverage. seems reasonable to me.

No one is saying you’re not allowed to not like it or not watch. Where the biting back quite rightly is coming from is challenging the comments containing either the blatant or thinly disguised misogyny.

Fair enough. If it's cheap I suppose.
Mind you, there are plenty of other sports they could be covering if cheap is the criteria

The original question was "Where do you rate Serena Williams in terms of Tennis players?"

So in this case it all depends how you determine the question. You've taken it as a further opportunity to downplay women's sports.

In my view she's arguably number 1 based on what she's achieved in the game.

Why would Sunderland get a mention on Football Focus? If you're talking about the final game of WSL season they it will be on BBC and Football Focus as they have the rights.
Because it was a match which attracted over 70,000 people, the winner of which got promotion. The fact that 70,000 pitched up at an away game shows the level of interest in the game.
I really enjoyed it. It was a tad one sided but england played some great stuff.
A tad?
;)

It's all relative though. Rooney done it at the top level of men's football and White has done it at the top level of women's football. They're both great achievements

I'm not denying that.

But if people insist on comparing the two things you'd have to include the equivalent disabled version, the LGBT version, etc.

Otherwise surely it's discriminatory isn't it?

It'll end up like local elections when they have to mention every candidate, to be fair, including the Raving Loony Party.

How do you propose the WSL and our national team rise above your "sub par" level that would allow women to have media coverage of their sport?

I replied she was the greatest female tennis player.

I'm not downplaying women's sports but women tennis players cannot compete with men so there is no comparison. How is that downplaying the sport?

You could argue that the majority of people actually interested in that game were there though?
