Women’s Euros 2022

I'm not too bothered about having the games on, but the commentary is absolutely chronic, trying to out cliché be even more embarrassing than the mens game.

But still it's an improvement on Sam Matterface prattling on about Murder She Wrote and comparing player hairstyles.

This might not go down too well but why are the BBC pushing this sport down our throats on their main channel?
Unbelievable the coverage for this minority sport.

How many women play tennis in the UK and how many women play football?

You can bet more women play football, but haven't seen you moaning about WImbledon on the BBC

It's a world cup so it's on TV as I would expect.

However, on a separate note...I have the Athletic and I follow Sunderland, la Liga, The Premier League, Championship, Series A and the SPL but I still get loads of articles for the Women's England team on my feed even though I'm not subscribed to it. There was an article about white shorts and period the other day (I'm not taking the piss). Got no issues with women football but just not my cup of tea so not sure why I'm getting it when I'm not subscribed?
Saw that video, did not make much sense to me eg no idea what the point was.

Sold out final at Wembley. Going to be mint man.
You going Hells Bells?

I had two of the remaining 92 to do which were Brighton and Brentford and was going to do them this coming Friday and Saturday nights in the womens Euros but the Dundee United match has trumped that as its a trip with the lads rather than solo. Now also got Stockport County to do as well so back down to 89 in what now seems like a never ending quest:lol:

91,600 fans

Barcelona broke their own world record attendance for a women's football match on Friday when more than 91,600 fans packed into the Nou Camp to watch their 5-1 rout of Wolfsburg in the first leg of their Women's Champions League semi-final.23 Apr 2022

they are coming to get you oldie
I mean in England. Barca is a sporting club also and I think that was more a relief or protest about the lockdown business.

Obsession  ‘shoving it down our throats’ :lol:Jesus some people are easily offended. All they are doing is showing it, you don’t have to watch it if you don’t want to, no need to be a dick.

Why is white shorts and periods taking the piss? Serious issue for many 🤷‍♂️

So you think the amount of money in the men's game is reasonable? Bale with 650k a week?

I was talking with someone and suggested to help grow the women's game there should be a rule that 20% of earnings have to go into the opposite sex's earnings. This would be both ways so as the revenue coming into the women's game more is given back. This would help with growing the game.
How much Bale gets paid is dictated to by his club….they obviously have a reason. I think it would be great to have money to go to sports development for establishing talent pathways from grass root to elite sport.

It wasn’t. Womens football is growing. It will happen and I can’t remember the current Wembley capacity but it will be full in a few weeks time

I know Patriots hate a lot of things that people are very relaxed about so I understand your problem with this

Because you probably looked at it previously or commented on it. That's how social media works mate.

Yep.

I like women. If a woman's football match was on in my back garden I'd shut the curtains.
Those aren't contradictions.
I like men (not in that way) and I like cars as I have one (although not in the way many do). If F1 was in my back garden I would close the curtains and put my earphones in. They are not contradictions either.

PS - My back garden is not big enough for an F1 circuit by the way!!

You’re right it’s impossible to know if this womens team are as good as even northern league level mens players.
Take physical attributes out of the equation. The England Women are playing at an elite level no matter the sex. The football played tonight was outstanding.

People never ask if Djokovic would have beaten Serena Williams at tennis or if Mo Farah beats Paula Radcliffe in a marathon. Competition is still competition and it’s entertaining.

You clearly don’t realise how many young girls are playing football now. It has huge popularity. As the generations go on the standards will improve further and this euros on home soil will only speed that process up.

I can tell you that 15 year ago I played 5 a side at work with and against a woman who played semi professionally. Her technique and range of passing was excellent and she was the best player on the pitch most weeks. She often got pushed off the ball by bigger and stronger men, but that’s down to physicality and not ability.
