NUFC/Sportswashing - Summer 2022

You make some leap between not constantly criticising something, and idolising something, though.
It’s not really much of a leap when you consider what Newcastle fans get up to, such as:
Running around with tea towels on heads.
Buying and waving Saudi flags.
Allowing their strip to be a rip off of the Saudi national strip.
Praising the Saudi replica strip and actually buying it.
Referring to Staveley (the ‘acceptable’ face of the owners) as Queen Mandy, Our Saviour, Queen of the North, etc…
Giving Yasir a 50,000 strong standing ovation.
People bowing down before Yasir.
Supporters saying they’ll convert to Islam.
Supporters wearing Arabic robes.
Constant defending of barbaric acts against humanity.
Changing avatars to Saudi flags.
etc…
etc…

It's probably right now though isn't it? This thread has now become ridiculous. Used to come on win, lose or draw and talk about the players, manager or whatever, and it was always decent.

The debate about our ownership (and football ethics and morals in general) is both interesting and worthy. But it's not debate on here, its insults and the same round and round discussions.

People being called terrorist sympathisers, paedophile lovers etc etc by strangers on a message board. Like it's stifled the actual important discussion and its just total nonsense. These are people that have kids, families etc. I thought most people grew out of just hating all things NUFC/SAFC at some point.

Think of all the books unread, hobbies neglected, *cough* romantic times missed, and family activities that didn't happen because of the time devoted to the same cyclic debate that's been going on here for a frightening number of months.

I think you and @Sabre Mag make a good point.

Seems like whatever is posted kicks up a hornets nest as the usual crowd get themselves all riled up. For my part, I'll not respond to any of that group and stick to the football stuff.

There’s nothing wrong in that, there’s no shame in knowing when you‘ve lost an argument.

I can't see any reason for calling someone you don't know a paedophile or a terrorist sympathiser if I'm honest. I'm aware others do (clearly) but as I say, in my opinion it takes the debate away, shuts it down immediately.

Like of a fan of another club came on I think they would just cringe at the back and forth and name calling etc.

I haven't bullshitted anyone with any of that. What people on social media say doesn't bother me, but like I say IMO it's then not debate any more. I just think adults calling people they don't know a terrorist sympathiser or as an NUFC fan coming on and winding you all up doesn't really make anyone look good, and just means there's no actual conversation, which this thread used to have.
Your fellow defenders on here have asked what could Newcastle fans have done to protest against such a vile regime owning a football club. I have answered that just like 100,000 did against Ashley !
As I’ve said Newcastle fans got what they wanted why cry unfair now ? You sold the soul of your club in the hope of some 🏆. Got it back my arse ! This ownership is further way from the fans, city and club than any predecessors

Just about football nothing else matters !! Do you have an opinion on Ukraine or politics ? Other things that happen in the world? Do you not agree with Chelsea being sanctioned because of their Russian affiliation ?

You would think people with kids, families, wouldn't want their teams owners to kill kids, families. And would take a moral stand against it, instead of saying' let's push the kid killing, marrying etc. to one side, cos we now have chris wood up front'.

I agree, I'm not sure there are many English clubs that can say they truly have there club back sadly. I haven't seen many (if anyone) defending the Saudis in terms of what they do, I think most just say they are doing what they have always done. Meet their mates, have some drinks, watch the football and go home. One of my mates has been doing that for 50 years, myself 30ish. There are loads of decent xounter arguments to why people should walk away, protect etc, lots of them valid, just think they get a bit lost amongst the name calling.

Non of that matters apparently only the football so it should be swept away and not talked about ! Let them get on with bragging richest club in the world without questioning where that money comes from

I couldn't look my kids in the eye, if I supported them. I really couldn't.

Again, a valid argument, and completely understandable. Especially someone like myself who has a young daughter. And I have thought about it lots to be honest. But this thread is now at a point where any attempt to discuss this would be met with abuse. As I say, just doesn't add to an important topic in my view. But having said that, it's easy to stay away from it!

100,00 protested against Ashley ! Where are they now ? Delighted they got the money and prepared to ignore who supplies it as long as there’s a chance of football success

Why are you still on the thread ? Purely to defend Newcastle

"To exist in an echo chamber and only talk to people with whom we agree is fruitless”.

New tactics eh? We don't like what's been said about our new Overlords & don't want to be associated with it so we will just concentrate on the football? Aye Reeto Lads 👏

The clues in the thread title. If you don't like it I suggest you give it a miss & go on another thread.
