NUFC/Sportswashing - Summer 2022

I'd like to know how the fans of Newcastle United are being sports washed.

Can you explain it?
You are doing it posting on here man so don't try to come over all naive.
Asking about separation between PIF and the Saudi State, for example. You know fine well what PIF is.

So, instead of comjng on here and asking folk to explain, why don't you explain what you regard PIF as being?

With regards to sportswashing,

It's pretty clear to anybody that the Saudi state have bought nufc for that purpose, same as the golf, f1 and boxing.
Same with Qatar buying psg and getting the world cup.
Probably even Russia and China hosting Olympics, winter Olympics, the world cup.

Now to me sportswashing never seems to work. As soon as these countries become involved, straight away there is negative attention on their various problems within their respective countries. It makes you wonder why they do it? I mean since the 2021 nufc takeover saudi have had way more attention than they would have got if the PIF had carried on quietly investing in the big corporations. I've heard way more about them than before they were linked with nufc. They got a load of stick for sportswashing when they hosted Joshua v Ruiz 2.
Same as Qatar, barely on my radar then they bought PSG and I heard some rumblings of it being unethical for a state to buy a club. Once they got the World Cup there was loads of stuff coming out about workers on stadiums dying, treated like slaves.
If they'd not bothered with the world cup that would have been kept pretty quiet.

So why do they do it? I mean the money the PIF has, do they even need Newcastle? What can they gain from it? Even if they sell for a billion quid they've only made 600m, and to get the club to be worth a billion would need 20 years sustained success. They've had nowt but aggro since buying, the rest of football against them. So getting a few hundred thousand folk in the north east on board doesn't seem worth the trouble.

Has there ever been a succesful sportswashing campaign?

If that's the case then why was the deal allowed to go through after it was said they were all satisfied it wasn't state-owned?

I don't know the truth I'm just told it's state-owned by people who seem to have decided it.
Can you enlighten me as to how this was allowed?

The deal went through more or less straight away once Saudi paid Qatar heavy compensation for pirating BeIn sports.

Once the KSA was no longer stealing from the premier league they PL were happy to allow it, under assurances from the PIF that they weren't state controlled.

The piracy seemed to be the only sticking point going back to spring 2020

So that means we're not state-owned then...right? Or is something else going on?
They couldn't find separation that's why they wanted assurance they would not get involved, if the Premier league feel like they're getting involved in the running of the club there could be repercussions.

How can I reply to that? As far as you are concerned you don’t know what sportswashing is, and if the rest of your fans are that ignorant on the subject it is pointless replying.
You said I was sport washed. I'm asking you what it means and how exactly am I sport washed.

I'll make this easier.

I've been a Newcastle United fan and supporter for nearly all my life.
I've seen the good the bad and the ugly and then some.

So what do you think has changed for me to be sports washed with the new owners that have altered my love for the club in any different way?

Now apply this to the city of Newcastle and surrounding areas and even fans afar who've been fans for a long time.

You mention sports washing and I just want to know what the setup is in terms of reasoning and end product?

I have followed Newcastle all my life and it's really tough for me . I know Saudi state own my club, and their barbaric regime , including the funding of 9/11 and the frightening dismemberment of a journalist in Turkey pains me greatly .

I do wish we were taken over by a multi billionaire but just not by this vile state who are using their wealth to rip through all the sports we love.

Signed

@Nukehasslefan

Go on....sign it . You know it's right.

PIF is a public investment fund...right?
It invests in lots of stuff....right?

What else do I need to know?

I will give you a further option, Yes, No or Don’t know. Same question

I'd be more than happy to answer if you explain to me what Newcastle United (owners) is doing to sports wash the fans.

Sportswashing is about associating yourself with sporting events and cleansing your reputation in the resulting publicity

NUFC fans aren’t the laundry, they’re part of the washing machine

No state owns Newcastle United unless the FA and governing bodies have been duped and you and others know the real truth.
If so can you enlighten me?
😂😂😂😂 Dear me, you can say it as much as you like but you know that's not true. Imagine being owned by them man! I'd rather go back into league 1 and rot.

Straight question for you. in your opinion do you think you, your club and your fellow supporters are being sportswashed? Yes or No?
A straight answer is, no, not at all.

If you think I am then would you explain why you think I am and what sports washing is to be able to bring me any further in.

I know what you mean, but it must work in some respect. Maybe it placates their own people, I just don't know. Or is it just to get one over on their arab rivals. Its a good point though. Take the world cup. If its an amazing one, with loads of goals, an amazing final, loads of amazing skills, will Qatar's awful human rights record be forgotten about? It might to some people, and if so, the sportswashing job is done. Take a look at some Newcastle fans, who have embraced the Saudis, defending them, some even saying those executed people deserved it. The baubles of (maybe) a trophy soon, have twisted them into believing something, I sure they don't really believe in. Job done there. It's a tricky one though. It will never work really on a large scale.

But does it ever work?
All the regimes or states that attempt it seem to get way more negative attention than if they just didn't bother.
Maybe there's another less obvious aim. What that is,I don't know.
As said in my previous post, has there ever been a succesful sportswashing campaign?

I agree to an extent. The scum golfers have only highlighted the barbaric nature of MBS and PIF. Same with the other sports you mention.

To me they are not interested in change , nor the views of the west but more like " we can do anything within your sports. We will throw our fortunes at the gullible amongst you and not think twice about it.....cos we can"

Washing....nah , they do not give a fuck and will castrate homosexuals and stone people till the cows come home.
