Durham on miners gala day.

And with that, we'll cross to our correspondent @mux who can bring us up to speed with the Phil Bardsley / @girojim roast chicken rimming situation.
Well kiwi after a flurry of initial action things have calmed down now somewhat. The roast chicken is still in situ and I think we can expect more fireworks later on. Back to you in the studio.
It says something about a band, you reckon they'd have us on @Napoleon Dynamite ?

It depends what you want. Pubs and streets in the city centre are heaving. The field is pretty busy. Lots of plastic glasses. The atmosphere is great. Been a regular about 25 years and only seen trouble once on the field and really it was just two groups of youths chasing each other but still not great. One of my favourite days of the year.

Thanks Mux. We'll be back to you later when you can mildly arouse and confuse the nation at 11.

23 degrees and sunny on the forecast.

Fingers crossed that stays the same, and hoping for Holden, Dehenna and Howell on stage.

Perfect.

Not been since I was a kid. Followed the band and they'd get on the bus then we'd all follow in about 5 bus loads from dawdon. Don't really remember much else apart from fair ground and watching all the band's back down the main Street. Is it actually a thing now that the pits have all gone.

Can imagine it's just some older people there to reminisce and for others it's just a piss up. Younguns will probs be arseholes no doubts.
Yep

They're shutting the roads from 5AM. I deliver down that way and I'm still expected to get rid of important stuff. . If you're out and about and you happen to see a postie don't be too scared to thrust a can in his hand.👍.
