Team/Squad as it stands

...................Patterson.................
Gooch....?????......Batth...Cirkin
...............Evans......O'Nien..........
Embleton.....Roberts...Pritchard
......................Stewart.................

Subs: Hume, Huggins, Winchester, Matete, Neil, Dajaku, Diamond

Assuming Clarke comes back and Wright decides to stay that only leaves room for:

A keeper
CBx2
Striker

Maybe another couple of forward players if Dajaku and Diamond won’t feature much or go on loan.

personally think the side we have, with a couple centre backs if wright goes if get clarke and broadhurst back is good enough for midtable ish, dont think they would struggle to stay up considering neil only lost one game in charge

Not 1000% convinced of the Evans/Onien midfield axis. Feels like there could / should be some competition added there.

We need as much quality added as possible. As it stands in our squad very few are actually proven at or even played a large number of games at championship level. The existing squad might be good enough to stay up but I would like to aim for a bit better than that.

Numbers in midfield are fine, Evans, O’Nien, Neil and Matete plus Winchester, Embleton and Pritchard could cover in an emergency but I do think one really good midfielder would potentially transform the team from one that can avoid relegation to one that can compete for top six. A signing like Lee Clarke was for us.
....we've lapped the other clubs regarding Morrison in motor racing terms... ;)
Let’s hope we break down then. Not keen at all although in some respects it’s not an entirely dissimilar signing to Prichard, someone very talented that has underperformed. Pritchard however doesn’t appear to be a problem character wise.

Needs quite a bit of work imo, even just for cover / injuries.

GK and back 4 all need additions.
New CM needed
2 more attacking options needs too (ACM and ST)

8 in total would do it.

Morrison would be a cracking signing. We need someone different, with a bit of an edge to his game, in the tight games he will be THE difference imo. All the top players have that 'arrogance' about them. Agree, it is a risk but definitely one worth taking. He seemed to knuckle right down at Derby, if you read the Derby fans opinions of him. Bit like Roberts he can feed off our fans adoring him, look at what it done for Roberts and it made him sign an extra 2 yrs, whereas before he has never settled anywhere.

Yep can't disagree with that. Hopefully not too long before they start coming through the door.....

That team that finished 5th with Neil as manager for the full season finishes top for me, I personally think we would’ve romped it
Totally agree with this

This is a totally different team under neil. Only lost 1 game and that was at the start

Looking forward to seeing who we bring in

Bang on. If we want to go for promotion(which should be the main aim) we need at least 5 new signings.
So if by some miracle we achieve promotion what comes next? Do we pay them all off and go out and buy a Premiership squad?

Patience is required here for a period of consolidation. The squad needs to evolve rather than us trying to buy a new one. Not that there would be the money to do that. Top half in our first Championship season would represent very good progress.

Think the squad we had to finish the season is good enough for a comfortable mid table finish myself. The squad that ended with Neil as gaffer anyway. The young lads have a full seasons experience under them so will only be better for it.

I still want Broadhead and Clarke back, with another 3-4 signings and we will be okay.
