He’s performing nearly as well as Willock did when he first arrived on loan and he played more games and scored more than Bruno. He probably did more than most to keep you up that season. Last season he seemed to be just a squad player who struggled.

As @sofatester points out, you need to judge a player over more than a few games.
A very fair point.
Fred keeps him out the international team, Bruno is shite
Mark Wright, i think but memory could well be failing me, kept Steve Bruce out of the England side. He wasn't shite!

Yet you state he is above average, you admit you have no clue, so basically you’ve just made up that statement, typical mag behaviour.
No. That is not what i said. I said i have seen as much as those saying he is average. They do show games in Houston.
Perhaps your assessment is based upon his playing for us.
Perhaps you would feel differently were he at Villa, or Everton. Typical Red & White behaviour?

As a football I was genuinely excited to see what all the hype was about when I saw him face to face at Everton. He was anonymous.

Cheeky smile, tattoos, loves the toon, dads a taxi driver, Brazilian international so I can see why he is hyped up - but let us see if he can start imposing himself on games rather than watching the ball sail over his head and picking up crumbs.

I'd say exactly the same if Villa fans were telling me that he was above average. Or Leeds fans or any other lower middle order club.

Because based on what I've seen he is average, regardless of shirt

It's a very similar scenario to when Newcastle had that Kenedy kid on loan. Mags were desperate for him to sign because he was "class".

He's done bugger all since

You have probably selected his worst performance sir. The whole team were shite in that game to be fair.
Let's agree to revisit in December when he has had another 6 months.

Now he was truly shite.
On Bruno i think he is better than average. Time will tell. Were we debating the merits of ASM, for example, it would be a totally different exchange. I really don't see it.

The desperation to paint every NUFC signing as shite is as painful as it is obvious ffs

I’ve never commented on his ability as I’ve never watched you horrible bastards.

You have no idea about his ability, you base your opinion on watching the odd game on the box or a few highlights, highlights is the pertinent word.

Typical mag behaviour, we’ve seen a heard this all before, you lot believing players to be better then they are.

Why can't you change your tag from Sub Bench to Lost Magpie. Were you also one of those pretenders when you signed up?

Never painted any as shite. In fact quite the opposite as I noted it is miraculous that all 5 settled in so quickly. But if you take your B&W tinted specs off you will see 11 starts for Bruno is disproportional to the hype. Likewise Dan Burn being touted for England when his passing his poor and has the turning circle of an oil tanker.

You survived by playing attritional/grind out results football which suited the available players (well done EH). But to pretend many of that squad can play progressive football shows you up as being clueless.

Was given tickets for the EFC game due to a friend having covid. He was poor, against one of the worst midfields in the Prem. But agree 1 view is unfair so that and MOTD is all I have to go on. I suspect he will be on it from the start of the season with WC places up for grabs and hence his hype will be further inflated.

Guess you finished at 2pm that day if you saw the game?

I don’t think Burn is England material. He is solid and has improved our defence, and was a big factor in keeping us up. But he’s certainly limited as a footballer.

You’re of course right in that Bruno has only played 11 games which isn’t long enough to judge him on but that makes it all the more odd that you are judging him on one game at Everton, especially when he’s been universally praised by Newcastle fans and the media alike since he joined. He’s been brilliant so far.

Dan Burn is a very good defender make no mistake. But he's another Ryan Shawcross.

You need more about you for top level football

Oh dear ex journo who gave up his season ticket because they were shit now wants it back :lol:

Is he? Did you see his defending in some of their defeats? Spurs away he was comically bad.

One game. If he was brilliant every game he'd be at a big club.

He's been consistently good at Brighton. Now he's contributed to a number of clean sheets at Newcastle.

He's definitely helped them become more solid.

You might not but plenty do. Search for Dan Burn England on twitter....

I have never said Bruno is shite I have simply said he was anonymous in the one game of watching him in the flesh. Bearing in mind the quality of the opposition midfield I was expecting better given the hype I read on here.

All fans over hype their own players (see us and Ross Stewart) but NUFC fans seem to very quickly over inflate a player's ability.

Time will tell with Bruno I am pretty confident that he will start the season like a train. Not sure if they have any fixtures in September but squads will be out in October. I guess the same will apply to Trippier. ..not sure what other internationals mags have.
