I remember a base rate of 15% in the late 80s/early 90s.
Bought our first little cottage in Millfield in 1981.
Interest rates shot up and we really struggled, , had a 2vyear old to feed and clothe, only got to a hand full of games for a couple of seasons, dont think me and our lass went out for over a year. No big screen tv, eyebrows, nails phones or xboxes then. No benefits either.
Tough times, but you know what, we just got on with it, we knew what our oriorities were.

My brither lived in Cromwell St before he sadly passed away in the 80’s aged 39. They were tough times and I had to move 280 miles away to find a job I wanted. Totally get it

A big screen telly probably costs less than whatever telly you bought back then.

If someone is skint, a telly is probably the best thing to spend their money on. This whole weirdness about big TVs (costing next to nowt) is a bit daft.

We couldnt afford a telly matey.
We got 2 given, a 28 inch colour in a cabinet, no sound, and a 14 inch black n white one.
We had them both together, the smaller screen facing the wall.
Our ariels were 2 metal coat hangers.
Nothing weird, food on the table always came first, no food banks.

Slowing down a bit now. Hope we hit 30k
We havn't done anything with the squad yet. People are still sceptical about how things will go. If/when we make improvements sales will move again. How much dependant on how much we improve the squad.

I just find it weird when people begrudge poor people a TV, like it's some kind of luxury item, despite costing comparative buttons.

Yeah but houses cost about £50 then.
2 bed 130 year old unmodernised cottage cost 3 grand, and 4 grand more to make it liveable.
Take home pay 42 quid, mortage at the start was 51 quid. Went up to 78 pounds in 2 years.
Money was tight, but most in our street were in the same boat, and we just got on with it.
Made some fantastic friends who we still keep in touch with.
Things can only get better.

Dont begrudge poor people anything.
Just need to get priorities right.
You see folks being interviewed, overweight with stuck on manicured nails eyelashes big tv and latest phone, telling us how hard it is for them and they cant afford food.
As I said, I dont begrudge decent folk nowt, but there are plenty of jobs out there, may not be great jobs, but never the less jobs. In the 80s you were lucky to find a vacancy.

I think everything will start ramping up again this week as people come back off a well deserved holiday. Signings, fixture release, ownership change ( 🤞) are all things that can drive sales if promoted in the right way.

Social media team were excellent during the play offs and hopefully they can keep that momentum going.
