Durham’s T20 Campaign

Well home, fed and watered.

Where to start really?

3 wins in 9 T20, 1 win in 8 red ball. The record of James Franklin as coach (or whatever his stupid title is) speaks for itself..... absolutely shit. I'll keep banging that drum as the results are facts, they aren't made up. Just like it's not made up that he left the club to go to the 100 last season........ Lead coach??????? - He's responsible for this, his fancy job title states so.

Tonight once again utter crap, & it's bordering on embarrassing watching Durham at the moment.

Can anyone explain out batting line up in this campaign and in particular tonight? Bushnell bats I think number 3 for the 2nd XI........... Why is he coming in at number 9 behind players like Paul Coughlin and Ned Eckersley... which clown is making these hideous decisions? It could also be argued why is Ben Raine so low down and Borthwick I think was number 10 tonight (someone will clarify, I was well away home by then). Just smacks of the lads just drawing lots half an hour before the game.... rock/paper/scissors.

With regards to the pie throwing bowling, is there any reason why Bushell didn't bowl for? What was he in the team for tonight, totally wasted talent, his fielding was the highlight of our performance.

Why did we sign Robinson for when our wicket keeper is playing as an outfield player.... again further evidence this fella has no faith in the youth/academy signing players from Kent/Middlesex. Bushnell was merely just thrown in tonight because of injuries, he wouldn't have played if Bedders/Tye were available.

The whole thing is just an absolute shambles really.

The club seem embarrassed, they stopped tweeting tonight after the powerplay, and seemed more interested in social media posts about England, than the game on day 3 vs Worcester.

The club is going backwards rapidly and it's incredibly concerning.

With a bit luck Franklin will either be sacked or he's pisses off to the 100, so we can look at development opportunities in the 50 over competition and give that a go, I enjoyed that last year as we all did and it was encouraging to see the likes of Doneathy involved for example.

It was a good crowd tonight, I don't see them hurrying back anytime soon.

Anyone for Diana Ross tickets?
Can Diana Ross bat and or bowl? Is she Supremely confident?

..

by the way @Silly Point there was a spinner called Shutt, with a very unique run up to bowling for yorkshire tonight. He seemed to stamp on his second step towards the wicket. Bowled well but took a few big hits towards the end if his spell

I don't believe I've seen him bowl but got more wickets in this match (albeit at a higher economy) than Dom and Shadab Khan. Perhaps a case of the Durham batsmen targeting him.

Khan was a new one to me as well. His first ball went for four byes but he kept it tight as well

shutt has promise but he will be liable to someone taking him to the cleaners. More experience and he will only get better

all jokes aside, I thought Dom bowled well tonight as well.

WHED is the former login of a perma-banned poster who now goes by another name on this forum.

As for Franklin. I’ve already told you what I think of him.
Thanks for the clarification.
Your tongue in cheek comment about "blaming Franklin for the balls going soft and flat pitches" has an element of truth in it. For years the sameness of Durham's seam attack has been seen to be ineffective when pitches flattened out as they do in dry weather.Clearly there was a need to acquire a quality spin opttion, probably as an overseas, and also appoint a quality spin consultant to help develop youngsters in the art. Franklin has addressed neither.
As for crediting Lewis for coaching a championship winning team, I always credited that to Colly. Do you seriously think that Colly would have been dictated to by Lewis on issues of team selection and tactics?

Also wasn't Geoff Cook Head Coach in 2013 for most of the season?

Colly who? He’s never stepped foot here since leaving lol

Yes, Geoff had his heart attack mid July and Lewis was acting coach for the remainder of the season. It's fair to say,I think, it was very much Colly's team for the remainder of the season.

True, but he's been involved with England more or less ever since so probably not wise to be associated with one particular club. Can't imagine, either, that he's wish to be associated with the present regime.

Well constructed post, agree totally.
We had tickets for Bryan Adams but it’s cancelled, thank goodness.
Can’t make it tomorrow we are the SOL to see Elton, not my choice either. But got to keep her happy now and again.
Would prefer T20.
