Leeds? Palace? They are very temperamental teams and when the mags beat Leeds in Jan it was the start of a spell when they lost 7 in 8 til mid March conceding 25 goals. Palace had lost their previous 2 games before playing you and drew 0-0 at home to Leeds in their next game during their poor form blip. West Ham even had a crap spell before/after the mags drew at their place over 14 games, only winning 4 home games by a 1 goal margin against Watford, Villa, Everton and Wolves and being shite away. Even Leicester had a 5 game blip spell with you at the start of it with even Everton beating them at their place. Arsenal were shite against you and Spurs prior but turned up against Everton next game. To be fair, in that game, like most games the mags grafted and got the goals and results even with a little 'luck' in some games helping them.
It did seem as if some teams seemed to play worse than usual when the Mags played them. Brentford lost 8 of the 9 games in their spell when they played the mags yet after beating Norwich next game and a couple games after they were back on form again. This seemed to be common as the win at Southampton was after their 4-0 smashing at Villa and even Watford beat them at their place the next game. This was also part of 1 win in last 13 games of the season. After the mags beat Wolves, Burnley also beat them and they never won again after that. I can't be arsed to check any more though it's simple using
However will this form be replicated again next season? I posted this below a few weeks back and basically the 2nd half of the season they had most of their away games against the lower teams and home games against the mid placed teams. This is probably the better set of fixtures to have as playing the reverse would probably mean the same amount of home wins from the lower placed teams but doubtful the away wins against mid table teams would be replicated like they were at home. Like I say at the end of my post, you may be in for a shock or then again who knows what will happen as it could go either way.
Though look at the results of the 18 games in relation to where the teams finished as it's a bit lopsided. It's only a partial season and out of the fixtures that are missing, realistically they wouldn't match the PPG of the W12 D1 L5 at all unless they started beating teams in the top 7 at home & top 10 away. To be fair to them they did graft in most of their games with the 'feel good' factor but some of their opposition were terrible at times or things just seemed to go right for the Mags. I'm not so sure this 'form' will carry on into next season so the mags thinking they'll be up there may be in for a shock but then again who knows.
