Didn't stick a cap on them but highest we got to was was 36k. Anyone could still go and buy one though. That was just how many we sold for a couple of seasons (2000/01, 2001/02).

He made sure there was always a section that was mstch day sales only , just next to away fans in south if memory serves , so there was a cap

My friend was paying £700 for last season at Derby. He said there was no announced price drop, though I don't know if you can even renew right now even if you wanted to risk paying £700 to a creditor.

£560 is the cheapest for an adult!:eek:
To be fair you can get an adult and an U11 in the family section for that price too, but it's still a lot more than we charge for the equivalent. Considering the football on offer is now equivalent to ours, it certainly makes us look cheap by comparison.

You could almost understand it if they were selling out a smaller stadium, but the Riverside is relatively big for the Championship, they're nowhere near capacity, and it's a poor part of the world, like Sunderland. You'd think they'd be better off cutting prices and adding 5K to the gate.

I don't think that was the renewal price mind

Still £170 more than our standard price for the cheapest tickets.
Looking at this , price are £35 lower than in 2012/13 (although that was in the PL). Had that kept place with inflation, it would now be around £500, rather than £390.

Seen a Boro fan on twitter the other week say something about how the club probably don't think cutting prices would add entice another 5k fans to buy one whilst in the Championship.

Was going to ask if anyone knows how many season card holders we had in our last Champ season?

Incredible to be around the 30k mark during close season! Players aren’t even back yet.

Probably a good thing as far as average attendance goes because if interest rate hikes trigger a recession we won’t get many paying on the gate.

A lot of those season ticket holders are people who used to get day tickets, so (for them at least) there wont be an overall increase in attendance.

But most likely those who went to most games, we have a sizeable portion who can only make it a handful of times. Those will probably not turn up of times are tough.!

So far it's only the Fed who've gone for a big increase.

I am just assuming the UK will follow suit but that’s based only on seeing a headline about “highest interest rate of all time” or something. I’ll bow to your far superior knowledge on money matters.

Going to be an interesting year or so is about as much insight as I am capable of.

I remember a base rate of 15% in the late 80s/early 90s.

You’re right. Headline was “highest in 13 years” and looking at the graph it’s more a case of them being at historic lows for some time.

Much closer to triggering a recession over here, as you say.

I’d jack it in if Sunderland charged that much. What an absolute disgrace.
Not a chance I’d be paying that, wouldn’t pay it for premier league like. Disgraceful money that
We certainly wouldn't have near 30,000 if we had prices like that and we have some of the cheapest tickets compared to some other clubs around us, especially when we were in the Premier League.

That's something people don't take into account when they go comparing crowds as we get huge numbers but it's certainly helped by the low prices. When in the Premier League, even with we still generated less than Southampton's due to the difference in price. We got no more than £15m in the 2013 to 2015 seasons with a peak of around £375 per fan on average per season and Southampton got £17-£18m in their 3 seasons, so around £600 per fan. The Mags generated about £25m from 50,000 around the same time so about £500 per fan. Obviously this doesn't account for corporate etc either but still gives a general idea.

even in the US rates are at historic lows if you exclude the 2007/2008 cuts

So do I. Bought my first house down Pompey in 87. Within 18 months the interest peaked at 15%. It was bloody unreal, stuck in a house, gone down 20% in value and 75% of my pay went to the mortgage. It was bloody horrendous

Definitely wasn't any sort of waiting list though so they weren't sold out if they were capped. If you wanted one you could get one.
Can’t remember if there was a waiting list but think the demand was there before the extension, after this for 9/10 of the prem seasons we averaged over the initial capacity of the sol
