What's funny, the first set are poor journalists, the second set are good journalists.
I disagree in that I think, in the interests of fairness, Caulkin is actually a very good sports journalist.

But my goodness he lost any sense of objectivity and therefore for me, respect as a journalist, when the Saudis took over.

I used to like his work, but it seems he has decided how to maximise his stock, and there is no room for ethics in the calculation.

For me, we all loved some of his work when it was about us, particularly the article he wrote before the 2014 cup final, and for me personally, the one he wrote about me and me dad.

So, when we raved about the 2014 article, it would be a bit hypocritical to say he’s a poor journalist, he’s not. He’s a good journalist.

But, there is a difference between being a good journalist and allowing your views and principles to be skewed because you support the team that have sold their soul to views and principles you’d ordinarily oppose. The lack of honesty and objectivity and a failure to stick to his principles is the criticism from me.

Given the UK and US supported Saudi Arabi in their campaign against Yemen it is highly unlikely this would be the trigger for UK/PL to take action against Newcastle owners (oh and the small matter of them having a bit of oil and buying lots of things from the UK as well). Anyone thinking otherwise is highly deluded
Aye, you were right, marra boh!

There’s a difference between being a good journalist and a good fanzine writer.

He is the latter.

I actually disagree, for me he’s a good journalist, blinded by his support of the Mags.

But, being blinded by your support of a team, is not a good place for a journalist to be.

So, please don’t think I’m defending him over his not only defence, but his active support of the takeover, I’m not.

But, that is a different argument to whether someone is a good journalist or not.

Agree. I think he's a good bloke, always got time for people on twitter. Unfortunately he was blinded by having access to Stavely and that mixed with him being a Mag meant he was badly conflicted.

A good journalist wouldn’t be blinded imo. Sure he’s fine as a person though.

not questioning your defending or not of him either
