Bumped the Jimmy thread for the same post.

ESPNcricinfo's stats whizz Shiva Jayaraman has been badgering away: "In New Zealand's first innings here Anderson's three wickets came at 20.66 runs apiece, while the other England bowlers took seven wickets between them at 67.7. The other England bowlers averaged more than thrice what Anderson did in the innings. This is the eighth of his nine hauls of three or more wickets since January 2021, when Anderson has averaged less than one-third of the combined average of other England bowlers in the innings."

New zealand dropped the spinner..could be a way in for Leach, or even Root, should it get close on the last day...Just get an half decent lead at tea tomorrow

at least we look something like a solid unit unit now regards the batsmen
if you look at who is missing in the bowling dept
archer
wood
woakes
moeen
Even rashid if needed
Its not too shabby is it?
I think such as Moeen instead of Leach is a virtual shoe in, with his capability with the bat

Englands best chance of winning this game would be to get bowled out themselves for somewhere near parity around lunch just after. Then bowling them out.

I can see that arising
I think its gong to be hard for them unless they skittle us in the morning. They either bat poorly next time around and give us a chance or they bat well but daren't set up a declaration with that pitch and that fast outfield because we could knock off anything.

That’s how I’m seeing it as well. Today has given England a sniff. It’s down to NZ to force the game from here

If we get to parity all out, I can’t see them declaring until 10 overs before tea on the final day.

Eh? Surely our best chance of winning is to get a 250 lead by near COP tomorrow and have a full day 5 and a 45 minute burst at them at the end of day 4 to bowl them out? You always bat when the pitch is best and bowl when it’s worst, which is always day 5.

Barstow did get a good delivery for his dismissal but it was no jaffa. It was a delivery which, straightened on him but because he plays with hard hands he was unable to adjust and it brushed his glove through to the keeper. Foakes got a very similar delivery but because he plays with softer hands could quickly drop them and the ball brushed his shirt rather than his glove through to the keeper.
