When did he die?
I heard he'd been ill but I thought he was still alive.
Not sure exactly when but I'm sure it's been mentioned on various forums through the years .Plus I'm also it was mentioned in the local papers as well.I've googled him and SMB RTG together and @wayne entwhistle no9 mentions him in 2016 in reply to whether Tony Day still got to games ? Wayne inferred that Tony had died 10 years earlier.
Preferred watching the 2nd X1 back in the early days 93-95 ish .Half sure he was a Stockton lad who watched his local club as well

To add to the mystery I came across a mention of him on a Middlesbrough forum ( the town not the football club) dated 2012 with no mention of his demise and three years later someone on the thread said he had been in a local barbers and Tony walked in!!.
....I know there's an obvious joke in there but I won't use it.He stopped watching the Championship games when they started putting numbers on the shirts.
I remember last home game of the 1992 season v Lancashire at Gateshead Fell when, rather than travel back down to the Boro at the close of play, he decided instead to sleep in the beer tent.
