NUFC and other Sportswashing Spring 2022

Plenty of top players will buy into Newcastle united.
Bruno and Trippier are just two.
Sit back and watch the ride.

It's not a sprint it's a marathon run from the walk we've been going through.
The sprint is not on any agenda. A steady build is what's required over a good few years.
As for Dummet and Longstaff, it's what I'd expect of careful owners, to keep a Geordie influence and also an English contingent.
Dummet has a year for his service and will be used sparingly I'd think.
Still, a useful left-back to have as a backup but a centre half if needed as well.
Don't forget we have cup games to negotiate.
Longstaff has massive potential that Howe will likely enhance this season.

Top clubs can only buy so many players. It leaves plenty out there that can be scouted and scrutinised by a much much much more ambitious and careful setup as we are putting into place at Newcastle United.
I'm excited.
But that is my point, they already have those players and can be seen as collateral, you don’t and to catch them they need to stand still while you need to go on a massive spending spree. Also you have a lot of dead wood to ship out all on good contracts

Trippier is a good, but injury prone right-back who's in his thirties at a time where there's absolute host of quality, young right-backs in the league.

Bruno is a good player who could probably play for a top six or seven club. There are lots of midfielders in the mid-table of the Premier League in the same boat though (Rice, Phillips, Neves, Bissouma, Tielemans, N'Didi etc.)

They were good signings for Newcastle, but I don't think they've got any of the clubs around or above you are worried. It may be that you step up another level in terms of signings, but by the sounds of it the top target is another young French player. It might be work out, but your club already tried this strategy before and failed. Let's see what happens this time.

Newcastle, who are trying to break into the top 4, bought 30 year old Dan Burn for £13M from Brighton.

Arsenal, who finished 5th last season, bought 24 year old Ben White for £50M from Brighton.

Man Utd, the biggest club in England finished 6th last season.

Apart from Arteta, the other top 5 managers all have league titles and cup successes on their CV's.

That in a nutshell shows how far Newcastle have to go to compete at the top end of the Premier League.

With Dan Burn type signings and Beheaddie Howe as manager they are currently light years away from that level.

Well it's safe to say that ya divvint undastand.

Aye, it's definitely gone too far down the nasty greedy route.

The way I see it is very simple. We can go on the crest of a wave for a period of time or we can struggle along.
We are more than used to the good bad and indifference this club brings so it's a case of jumping on that ride and taking the rough and the smooth of it, with some actual hope of better instead of standing still.
Sportswashed.

Dan Roan asks NUFC Chairman a few awkward questions. 20 mins later this lad pipes up. This is what I don't get. Why go out of your way to defend something that is effectively indefensible. In fact he doesn't defend he deflects with Whataboutery.

Sportswashing: "Im really not sure about that terminology" 🤣🤣🤣🤣 incredible.

Well done Dan Roan though for finally tracking him down

I agree the top few clubs already have the players but take a look at Man Utd as an instance.
Their squad is largely made up of expensive buys, yet many of them are leaving on free transfers so they have to stump up heavily to recruit top players.

If we spend as I think, which is (hopefully) clever and as sensible as can be in this ridiculous market then in time we will even out with the top clubs and eventually have players worth a fortune.

I can see where you are coming from with your thought process but it isn’t as simplistic as you make out. IMO you might, and I say might, get one decent signing over the line. But then, as I said earlier, you have Dummett, Longstaff, Burn, Wood and now Targett amongst others on contract. They must be expected to be included in your squad?
Realistically, and this is by no means a leading question, where do you expect your club to be in say 5 years time

Its mad how quickly a bit of money covers up everything. One of the main Sky commentators: "Turn the clock back to whem I was a 40 year old golfer...would I take that money. Id be straight on that plane. Absolutely"

The money thrown about is mind boggling. Mickleson 200m just for playing. Woods apparently turned down nearly a billion 😂😂 I mean it just shows that if they could get round ffp somehow splashing 6/700 million a season is basically nowt for them
