Though I disagree. Whilst the title of this thread includes "Sportswashing" I don't think any Saudi is sat there thinking "we are abhorrent, we must cleanse our image" as they really don't think they are abhorrent. They are very proud of their country and actually think we need to look at our actions in life. This is why I find the "They are trying to change" mantra utterly ridiculous.

I have consistently said PiF will sell NUFC before Oct '26 as to them it is an investment. Likewise LIV Golf is an investment. In both cases the Sportswashing and normalising of KSA is a side effect.

The one uncertain for me is if MBS gets involved and NUFC becomes a pissing contest and my investment notion is then thrown out of the water.
 
The Saudi ***** are trying to ruin golf , boxing and football to name but three sports I have an interest in.

Golf. Ban the rebels from PGA and European Tour along with Ryder Cup representation.

Football. Invoke the ruling where MBS was supposedly to have no ruling over PIF, the Saudi state investment fund.

Boxing. Promoters grow some balls and have their boxers fight in stadiums with atmosphere instead of sitting on their hands.

the only problem with newcastle is when other teams got give money such as chelsea and man city they all ready we’re good teams so the fact of newcastle being a dead team isn’t gonna help the situation anymore

But why have they absolutely creamed themselves over the Newcastle takeover whilst the paymasters are exactly the same people.... ? Absolutely baffling ! :confused:

They’ve done nothing for at least a decade that I’m remotely jealous of. Mid table in the premier league with next to zero cup runs? Been there done that.

I agree with you about Chelsea, but Man City finished 14th before the Shinawatra take over, 9th under him and the first year of being owned by Abu Dhabi they finished 10th.

Its not baffling at all really. Are Sky contracted to LIV Golf? No. Are Sky contracted to the PL who have enabled the Saudis into their brand? Yes.
 
Golfers sound like they’ve been watching Eddie Howes interviews. I’m guessing it’s just because everyone is jealous that they are going to challenge the big 6 :lol:

Sky don't have coverage of the Saudi Golf League, but do have the rights to Newcastle's games. It's in their interests to diss one and promote the other.
 
I see they’re still lumbered with their shite shirt sponsor. I thought they were getting some big Saudi company to help ease financial restrictions on their spending? 🚩

These ITK's on twitter claiming Fun88 wouldn't continue when they signed a new "long term" deal in 2021! Why on earth would they walk away?

But if they are the richest clerb in the world why didn't they make Fun88 an offer they can't refuse?

It’s not baffling though football is their bread and butter and they are desperate for hyping it up. A fringe golf circuit means nothing to them so they are choosing that as their ‘moral’ stance ! It is utterly pathetic and hypocritical though
