Have you seen me personally protesting against Ashley ?? Shouldn’t tar me with that brush as that’s not my style. Just as I wasn’t at st james with a tea towel on my head the night the takeover got announced.

I can only speak for myself and, I can say hand on heart, I’d not have campaigned or written to whoever would listen to get the deal through.

And I’d never have gone again if I thought my team was owned by a regime, that rapes and murders.

Totally respect your stance Janey, and who am I to doubt you.But if I go off this forum as a rough guide as to how many would stop supporting safc if the Saudis had bought yous then the stadium would be nigh on empty. Surely you can understand my scepticism.

I can’t comment for others, but I do believe there would have been a bigger moral push back from us. I think it’s abhorrent and I can say hand on heart it would be abhorrent whichever team.

What frustrates me most is the cry from Newcastle fans, well we can’t help who owns us. But, there was a sustained campaign for the Saudis to take you over, I mean you had fans knocking on the doors at PL headquarters.

And then the tea towels on the heads celebrations. It turns my stomach if I’m honest

The blowback from the press when we appointed PDC was biblical compared to the blowback when the investment vehicle of KSA bought your club. That isn’t opinion - it’s fact.

Like I said earlier, tea towels, petitions etc isn’t my style. I can’t be responsible for the geordie “nayshun”. I can only be responsible for myself and my feelings. For a Saturday 3pm ko my day starts at 12.30-1 in a bar 1 minute from st James. Have a couple of pints then a group of 10 of us head into stadium for our meal. Watch match, and stay in stadium for a drink or 2 afterwards. Head into town after that. End up home anytime between 9-1 after a good day, win or lose. That will happen under Ashley or the Saudis. Nothing changes in my head. The Saudis coming on board isn’t going to interfere with my social calendar, and enjoyment. Why should it.

And I respect that, I spent a weekend away at me godaughters wedding, two weekends ago, with her family who are Mags through and through and, who I consider my second family. They go to the game like you do.

I was just horrified, when the sale went through at the number of Mag fans (not that family) that I like doing mental gymnastics to justify the awful things the Saudis have done, women friends who almost dismissed rape, to justify “we are rich”

Now I bet those mag women more than likely felt the same way as me if they heard the tale.

This is absolutely the moral dilemma, it’s clear from my lack of posts that Ive pretty much stayed away from this thread, but sometimes saying nothing is not an option.
And your comparison with Ukrainian women and Saudi women is true and scarily chilling.

In truth the world has gone nuts , not just those up the road.

It seems we have to do deals with the devil. The USA know what happened 9/11 but sit back because a stinking barbaric nation have oil.

The west sit back on Putin because that barbarian is unhinged and he has nuclear weapons.

I understand that but it wont stop me despising the Saudi state and Putin, not applauding them.
