CC :: Middlesex v Durham

Is it me or is their speed gun about 5-10 mph under? Ferocious bouncer registered as 83mph.
One of the commentators said yesterday that the speed gun doesn't seem to pick up bouncers as well as it does fuller balls.

But this is the first tie I've seen county bowlers and a speed gun in operation. I've been surprised sat how low the speeds are. I don't think Middlesex had a bowler doing 80 or above, and Rushy was a few mph slower than I thought he would be.

Oops, didn't see brandon had replied.

The number of runs we concede through third man and leg slip is shocking.
Well I'm glad Sunderland won cos Durham have made a pigs ear of this
The way these two are going and with 20 overs left Middlesex could have a 130+ run lead by close of play tonight.
Famous last words.

It's becoming the story of this season with the bowling unit looking mostly harmless.

Odd that Murtagh at his pace can get the ball moving sideways. Maybe he can get swing (perhaps) whereas our bowlers depend on seam and the ball is too soft, (theory crafting).

Bouncers are often slower than 'regular' deliveries if measured between two fixed points. They hit the ground earlier and at an angle which takes pace off the ball more than ordinary deliveries. A ball that pitches shorter and climbs higher, travels further than an ordinary delivery between two fixed points and would therefore clock a slower speed.

Had hopes of bowling them out and having around a 100 run lead. Within 2 sessions have gone from being possible winners to facing defeat.

Two weeks in a row we’ve been in a position to force a 100 run lead and two weeks in a row we’ve allowed the opposition to get well beyond us.

The bowling was utter tripe in the afternoon session. They ended up pissing full batting points from a position an hour earlier where the commentators were worried they wouldn’t make 300.

The Potts omission has really annoyed me. If it’s an England thing, the club should’ve told them to f*ck off. Yes, 7 games in 7 weeks is tough, but this is the last game before he’d be getting a week off 🤷‍♂️

Lose tomorrow and the season is over. It’s that serious.

Potts omission only confirms what we already knew -without him our attack totally lacks penetration, nor is there anything coming through. The person answerable for this predicament is the head bowling coach,Mr N Killeen

Happened several times last season and I was told to stop moaning. Scott constantly lets matches drift. Seamers were going through the motions without any apparent plans to get batters out.
.
Outstanding batting day forecast in London today: cloudless, 23 degrees. Surely we can bat out a draw from here?

TBF his son looks a decent prospect, taking wickets in the seconds at only 17. Nowt bashing down the first XI door though. Ollie Gibson is next cab off the rank but still doesn't look ready.

Q: Why didn't we bring out a Night Watchman till we were three down last night?
