Fair enough marra, I was just going off the stream, which does a great job picture wise, but not sound wise. The Neser one could’ve included verbals, I wouldn’t know, but according to the BBC their run penalty was for two breaches - both today, but I suppose their earlier antics could’ve lead to the final straw being reached in the eyes of the umpires today.
On that over appealing, it’s a real annoyance of mine when teams do it. Even more of an annoyance when it works.
Back on the topic of the game, we were the only team in county cricket to win this week. All other 6 games ended in a draw - which when you consider the issues that everyone seems to be having with the balls, is a real problem for cricket. The flat pitches and the shit ball quality isn’t helping anyone and since the same ball manufacturer will be used for the Test Matches that are coming up, I can’t imagine the world of cricket taking kindly to a situation where the ball is being changed 5/6 times an innings if it comes to that.
Oh and
@smoker, I called it
Durham lost their last 7 wickets for 65 yesterday. Glamorgan lost their last 7 for 62. The last 17 wickets in the game fell for 202 runs in 80.5 overs. A definite sign that the pitch was sporting enough, that bowlers (ours atleast) bent their backs and that the pressure of a close game got the better of some of the batsmen. I noticed too that both teams bowled much tighter lines generally in the second innings, clearly a ploy to give the ball a chance to do something and to not allow any batsman the chance to rest on their laurels.
