CC :: Durham v Glamorgan

Apparently one of their players was reported to the umpires. Marnus "no run"

Reported by us?? Going off Badger’s comments at Close last night he clearly got into the lads’ heads. Especially with regards to his fannying about which contributed to our +3 over rate.

Noticed at the end today he appeared to be having a long chat with Alex Wharf, but believe the actual rule breaches were committed by Root and Neser.

Day 4 highlights - enjoy lads and lasses

Rushy and Raine have looked better in the last two games after learning how to bowl with this spud.

Aye, I’m hoping a combination of the Lords slope and this new ‘batch’ of balls will see them come into their own next week.

Mind Raine with 15 wickets is our second highest wicket taker on the season so far :o

No the umpires report him in their book. They had words about Carse to Borthwick as well during the game.

My understanding was he wasn't playing for us because he was doing his finals at Durham Uni. Fuck knows what he is doing back in Hampshire playing for them in the middle of his exams. He used to be with their academy and you could understand Durham offering up his services for a bit of match
Exams are probably finished by now. Perhaps he was offered an opportunity to play in a four day friendly for Hampshire given that Durham don’t have any such fixtures in the near future. No doubt visited his family too while in the south!

Fair enough marra, I was just going off the stream, which does a great job picture wise, but not sound wise. The Neser one could’ve included verbals, I wouldn’t know, but according to the BBC their run penalty was for two breaches - both today, but I suppose their earlier antics could’ve lead to the final straw being reached in the eyes of the umpires today.

On that over appealing, it’s a real annoyance of mine when teams do it. Even more of an annoyance when it works.

Back on the topic of the game, we were the only team in county cricket to win this week. All other 6 games ended in a draw - which when you consider the issues that everyone seems to be having with the balls, is a real problem for cricket. The flat pitches and the shit ball quality isn’t helping anyone and since the same ball manufacturer will be used for the Test Matches that are coming up, I can’t imagine the world of cricket taking kindly to a situation where the ball is being changed 5/6 times an innings if it comes to that.

Oh and @smoker, I called it ;)

Durham lost their last 7 wickets for 65 yesterday. Glamorgan lost their last 7 for 62. The last 17 wickets in the game fell for 202 runs in 80.5 overs. A definite sign that the pitch was sporting enough, that bowlers (ours atleast) bent their backs and that the pressure of a close game got the better of some of the batsmen. I noticed too that both teams bowled much tighter lines generally in the second innings, clearly a ploy to give the ball a chance to do something and to not allow any batsman the chance to rest on their laurels.

Somerset mullered Gloucs. Finished on Saturday I think

If Ned could get few runs and Rushy a few wickets then things would be fine and dandy in the camp, not much else to worry about with the senior players.

Apart from the fact that after Lords, the next time we play a CC game we could be without 5 of the team that played over the weekend.
Yes it was! Hampshire v Sri Lanka Development Xi at the Rose Bowl. They sneaked that one under the radar! Presumably on loan?
He is contracted to Durham. This news item from Nov 2021.
Pretty sure he's been allowed to go home after finishing Uni and is due back for the T20. Strange that he's been allowed to turn out for Hampfrica, but not a first class game so not a massive deal.

It is a first class game. Continues today. Slightly worrying that he bowled 5.3 overs and was then taken off. Another bowler finished his over off. Has he got himself injured?

Hants aren't likely to entertain that unless he was on trial with a view to signing. Nor was he involved at all pre-season with Durham. Suspect we've seen the last of him.

Miss Stokes, Lees and Potts probably but still have Petersen and probably Wood who'll have to have some red ball practice if he's to be considered for Tests.

Thought it was List A against junior teams? Might be wrong like.

Petersen is here until Worcester, sorry yes. Lees, Stokes, Potts and Carse could well be away with England.

Aye I think Potts will be in test squad and Carse in Netherlands

A win at Lords this week is vital IMO

Even though Carse's bowling yesterday was a vast improvement on his first innings performance I still think he's some distance away from an England recall.

I think he will be in the Netherlands for the ODIs, which is at the same time as the NZ series

when you consider the injuries I think its nailed on

This knocks the shine off our win yesterday!

Tin hat on here but I think we've got off lightly with that one. Friday we were fannying about far too often. Obviously got to factor in all the ball changes but Durham are notorious for fannying about. I think a 1 point deduction a decent outcome

I have no idea how it works now, I think it used to be that +2 overs was acceptable (we were +3 at start of play yesterday) but now they’re much stricter on it.

I think with all the fannying about with ball changes it’s very harsh to enforce penalties on anyone. Given the penalty runs against Glamorgan, perhaps the two umpires are simply ‘the type’
