If this happened to Utd or Liverpool fans, I suspect they’d protest.

I’d actually give the mags a fair bit of credit if they took a stand and refused to buy it. Sadly I doubt they will and some will even see it as a badge of honour

Yes, and I wouldn’t be happy if Sunderland did it tbh. But going for Portugal colours for a team mostly Portuguese is one thing. Going for a murderous, blood money, outright barbaric state colours is another. Kids and woman wearing the colours of a state where if your gay your thrown off a building? Wash, wash, wash.

The reality is, within the next 5 years or so the Saudis will do something absolutely horrendous and Newcastle will be under pressure, like Chelsea were

they are right to point out Saudis have assests everywhere, and loads of people at different levels of different industries have dealth with them, or visited there for work or someit

but clear difference when you are directly owned by them like this for a specific purpose or rebranding their nation

Premier League teams/sponsors should change their shirt for the games they play against Newcastle from their logo to one bluntly promoting LGBT, or Yemen or something else that Saudi Arabia would baulk at broadcasting for 90minutes.

If the Premier League is going to allow the league to be the corrupted, sports washing plaything of states then Clubs and sponsors should try to work that in our favour and promote our values through it and force Saudi Arabia to accept our view on basic issues if they wish to be part of it.
