What’s stopping them from building it now?

The council have made it completely clear they’ll do anything for them. The owners have already been there for 7 months and were talking about a new training ground on day one. Yet it’s still “3 years, maybe more” away?

I think anyone can see that it will never happen. It will be just like Ashley’s plans for a new training ground, which are also mentioned in the article.
I can’t stop you believing what you want and vice versa. If I’m still on this forum in 3 years then I might have to eat a big dose of humble pie. I doubt it though. The only way the PIF can make a profit on us long term (10-15 years) is to spend big on the likes of a new training ground. Speculate to accumulate and all that. It’ll happen.

I have had the pleasure to take sides (and kids) to Finch Farm and Kirby - those things don't happen over night. If you go on google maps see the footprint of both.

A new training ground is not going to increase the value of the club, growing revenue does that. You could argue that it can attract better players and improve what happens on the pitch but then again you just signed a Brazilian international ahead of Arsenal who have a great training ground and no doubt his mate (JoL) told him it was a tip, so I am not even sure that is the case.

I know I can't make you believe what I do but I have written on here previously that there will be no training ground but a tart up of the current one and planning permission put in for a new one. No way is that sale 10-15 years either! The fee was mega cheap for the revenue they generate and it won't be long, with these sponsorship deals, that it is worth 1bn+ and then it was be flipped.

“Those things don’t happen overnight”. You’ve kind of just answered to Skellingtons comment for me. Like I said previously with my vice versa comment, we’ll have to wait and see. Nobody knows. Anyway yous have got bigger fish to fry tonight, so try and enjoy that. 👍🏼

Training ground is North Tyneside council.

They still don't grasp the fact anyone can have shares in a company. It's the fact they are owned buy them and they begged for it. 'We don't get a choice in wor ownership'.

But but Mike Ashley who was praised on here and we were ungrateful to sold the club to them. So should he be criticised?

I don't see why it should take 'at least 3 years, maybe more though'. Leicester built theirs in 18 months.

Staveley owes 30m to the Reubens,10m to Mike Ashley, and Ashely claims he's owed another 3.5m for legal costs. That's a lot of money that she'll need to take out of the club at some point. Is there any reason why PIF can't clear these debts up, or is there some unspecified reason why that should take more than 3 years as well?

Why can't you just flick 5m or so at Brighton to get the director of football in? Doing another transfer window with no one in place is the sort of amateur shit we'd see from Donald and Methven

Your fans are currently celebrating the sort of extension someone in Cleadon might add to their house as a sign that you're about to take off - I really don't see it.
Training ground is North Tyneside council.

And I think land near the airport would be Northumberland. It really wouldn't matter. Politicians from all over the region went crawling up the Saudis arses in the most disgraceful manner during the takeover - even MPs who are nearly in Teeside were writing letters to Parliament. No one is going to stand in their way.

How does being committed to the absolute minimum, but spending £40mill on an unknown Fred understudy work.

Agree

Reminds me of signing Joelinton, Cabaye, or Wijnaldum. Ashley never got much credit for those deals, so why the different treatment for Staveley?

Your new owners have been working to unsettle your best player since the moment they arrived, seemingly with some success, and articles have appeared saying that he's for sale this summer. Ashley used to get absolutely slaughtered by your fans for that.

This increasingly has the same look as the Donald and Methven takeover, talk of grand plans but actually committed to the absolute minimum.

Its very much this. They loved Ashley for more than a year at the start, and tbf we were so enthused by new ownership we had fans doing free manual labour for them at the SoL while they went drinking in Moscow.

Am fairly confident that they will absolutely hate Staveley by January 2023. In 2 years she will be lounging in Dubai or somewhere while some bald hardcase in a suit will be put in place to soak up the fan's abuse and steer the club towards a sale.

You know the other day we were talking about the 99:1 knacka split.....that tweet above took me to king of the knacka's..

I have a 4 minute film of the whole thing.

If anyone wants one PM me and we can arrange to send it somehow. Either by Facebook, email or any other way. I would be happy to share it. 🔴⚪
