Had fish and chips from there a few weeks back and the MiL got me two beanies for me dinner next day. I’ve got nowt bad to say about amble. Lot of money being invested there over the last few years.
 
A serious unprovoked vicious assault gets a suspended sentence yet Boris Becker cheats the bankruptcy laws and doesn`t threaten anyone`s safety, yet lands 2 1/2 years in jail. Pretty much sums up what the law thinks about the welfare of commoners and their protection of money. It stinks.
 
37 priors and the judge says it's been terrible for them having the accusation hanging over them, but no GBH record so you can walk out of the court after pleading guilty to a hate crime? Somewhere higher up surely that is raising eyebrows. Imagine if it had been racial rather than xenophobic - yet much the same principles.

The judiciary are just so soft it is no real surprise that the scum of communities just do what they like.

The damage is minimal and the bloke says he's lost confidence.
So who goes to jail? The 62-year-old or his son or both or all 4?

I say they got a fair sentence based on the info given.

They were charged.
They had to wait 2 years to get a fair trial.
They were likely told they could get a custodial sentence well before the court so had to live with that hanging over them. I'd say a sentence in itself.

As I said before. 18 months in prison suspended for 2 years and ordered them both to do 200 hours of unpaid community work...a curfew and also £500 each compensation to the victim.

That's two convicted out of 4.
What part did the others play?

The two got a fair sentence.

Violence in itself is not to be tolerated but there has to be a fair setup for the actions and I think this was a fair punishment.

But that's just the thing. I'm not even judging any of that from a football rivalry perspective.
If that had been anyone I'd stand by what I already said which is me thinking that punishment was basically fair for what it was.

If that very same thing happened and the person injured was a Newcastle fan then I would not change my stance on what I deemed as fair punishment.

do you not think an unprovoked attack should lead to a custodial sentence? most of your post is concerned with the attackers and not the victim. you can't just go around attacking people, dregs of society.

You obviously think a custodial sentence for this is deemed necessary. Ok, fair enough. How long in your opinion?
I think the sentence they got was a much bigger deterrent than a custodial sentence unless you're thinking of banging them up for many years.

What would you deem acceptable for what you read in terms of the length of the sentence?
What would make you accept as being a fair and just jail sentence?

Six month imprisonment all night. Fuck suspended sentences, tags, curfews and community service, all these equate to (in the criminal world) as “I got off”.

Grow up man.
