Inside No.9

They never are but I can't not love shearsmith. He's class in The Witchfinder on BBC Iplayer if you haven't seen it yet.

That got panned didn't it? I love Tim Key like, and that kind of set up, so should really give it a go.

I love Reece Shearsmith, he's great, he's just extremely adept at playing unpleasant characters

Not sure if it was panned, honestly haven't seen any reviews.

I liked it though. Good but not great. If you like Tim Key though, definitely give it a go. It's very him, if you know what I mean.

The latest one (one the pedalo) was ok, but felt like they'd had two different ideas for stories and couldn't quite get either to work so blended them together.

I couldn't get into it....thought it was OK, what was the twist ?
Not sure if you'd class it as a "twist" or not, but basically everyone died. The three left on the boat fell in and presumably drowned, their deaths confirmed by the Boatman telling Shearsmith they were on the "other side". Shearsmith died as well, (hypothermia?) and at the end was being carried across what I took to be the River Styx to the underworld, hence the coin in his mouth to pay the boatman. There it appeared he was reunited with his wife and it ended.

I may be way off, but that's how I took it.

No, only Reece's character died. The boatman said "other side" from the afterlife, i.e. they were still alive. That was how they intended it from the podcast.
Ah, I took other side to mean they'd died. They'll know what they meant though, so fair enough

Anyone watch tonight's episode ?
As usual, very dark. Certainly gives a different slant to recycling ?
The Headmaster seemed a real weirdo...

Accidently flicked on to it at the point of 'have you watched the Michael Jackson video' totally creased up for 30 seconds 😄have it recorded for later.

I thought it was going to go a bit Wicker Man, but the little bits of misdirection (mainly the actions of the two main characters) made me doubt it...
Yeah, as soon as it started I thought Wicker Man, and then it continued with the little and not so little nods to it throughout.
Being a huge fan of TWM It's no wonder I loved the episode!

I want to rewatch it as well, see if there's anything I missed (was the painting shown at the end visible earlier?)
