After the India test Root had 927 runs at 61.80 from 18 innings.
His final 9 innings against Saffers and Pakistan brought 171 runs at 19.
I think the fact we won 5/6 matches without our best batsman doing anything of note. Is quite incredible and such a turnaround to recent years. Where if Root didn't score, we were absolutely humped.
Real testament to our young players stepping up. I expected Root to break the record for most test runs at the half way point of the year.
