Can't see it being true but Edwards and a few other journalists have been saying 60m budget for the summer. That would be extremely underwhelming for them after all the hype. You should never sell your soul full stop, but to sell your soul to buy mid table fodder and be an also ran....
The owners don't really have an excuse for this type of budget, this budget would be through choice but they are making it out its because of FFP. In reality they'll probably spend a lot more and they are just managing expectations to help with negotiations.

They simply can't just spend what they want. FFP has been tightened up again. The days of a team like Chelsea or City buying the league in a few years are long gone.

They'll probably end up fighting for 7th in the foreseeable future.
They can spend quite a lot though because of what fat Mike done with them. If they get sponsors, that would help surely?

They actually think they are winning the premier league and playing in the champions league. does anyone on here think that will happen in the future? Just interested in others opinion.

The absolute seethe after a Newcastle win in here
I've absolutely nee idea why a few people on here get worked up over a few wins in the premier league. ill start to get a bit envious if they ever win something and not before, they are just another bottom half premier league club who are awful to watch but win a few games from time to time.

They can to some extent but not long term. For example it has been bandied around they could spend about £300M over 3 seasons. This is transfers AND wages but some of the fees could be delayed by paying in installments.

That means they could spend £200 in the summer but then they'd be in an Everton like scenario where they wouldn't be able to spend much at all for a couple of seasons as they've already spent the thick end of £100M in January.

who knows if they do it will be a long time down the line imho and if they do there's nothing you can do about it no point worrying about it much more important things in life mate

Iirc they had room to potentially spend £250 million thanks to Big Mike being financially astute. They've flattened about £100 million of that so far. So room for another 5 or so players similar to what they have, or maybe 3 upgrades. Unless FFP is tightened again, or they get £100 million for Jonjur.

Yeh they are all crawling out of their rocks spouting how great they will be . Think the trophy cupboard will remain empty for a good while .
