Another youngster heading off

f***ing disgraceful if we lose him for a million quid. I thought we had a “billionaire owner”

Did you read the article and see which clubs are trying to sign him? Their owners are worth way more than our lot.

Youth development has to be the absolute ideal scenario for the club. It's arguably the only way to be able to compete at the top level these days.

Worryingly, Newcastle being half decent could knack our recruitment of the kids. At least we are known for the better pathway currently.

Who have City or Chelsea produced from their own YT? Genuine question as I can’t think of any other than Foden who’ve gone on to have a real impact.

The big money clubs don’t appear to foster young players too well.

I don't know without checking they are all academy but Mount, James, Hudson Odoi, Tomori maybe from Chelsea.

Edit : Loftus cheek and chalobah too

Has any of these wonderkids who have been sold actually done anything of note?
First of all they are kids. They are hardly going go straight into the first team. But Josh Coburn is in the Boro first team. Luca Stephenson is captain of the Liverpool's U18s. Joe Hugill is in the Man Utd U23s and scored for the U18s.

Tough decision for the kid and his family. It's not just about the money surely. It's got to be about the standard of coaching and opportunity to progress to first team football.
It doesn't appear Newcastle's youth set up has any better coaching than the AOL based on their recent home grown talent. They basically producing League one standard talent and let's face it they're going to buy their way into the Champions League over the next ten years so zero opportunity for young players.
Sunderland have stated they want to create a pathway for young players as part of the first team squad and hopefully if we're in the Championship next season or the one after that's a decent enough standard to learn your trade.
At the same time you have to back yourself and think you can do the same at a top Premier League club but even at £1m these clubs are often just taking a punt on a kid coming good. Loads of examples of kids signed for decent money as youngsters now playing non league.
This sort of thing should be banned anyway. Trading kids. Does Jeffrey Epstein broker the deals.

Only watched the u18s a couple of times this season and this kid has looked very good.. Someone will probably correct me but will he have actually signed professional forms to bring that type of fee?
Academy forms, we'd get a good comp, but he can sign his scholarship early, but that won't come into play until he has left school so 16
