Another youngster heading off

I see your point but Dan Neil with 30 odd first team games is way ahead of most of the ones who left and have barely made a first team appearance at currently higher ranked clubs. It’s a difficult one.
There's absolutely no guarantees mate, but they're obviously confident in their ability so surely the opportunity is too good to turn down? Like I say, if it doesn't work out then there'll be league 1 clubs who could be there to give them a second chance. You must wonder what if, if you don't give it a go.

Unfortunately premier league clubs picking up our best youngsters will keep on happening until when/if we get ourselves sorted out. I love SAFC but if my son at 14 gets offered a contract at Liverpool, Man UTD, Arsenal like has happened with some, even Leeds and Everton, then it would have to be tempting. You'd always wonder what if tbh. We are league 1 and if it didn't work out then the boy could likely get another chance at a league 1 club. Would take a very brave or pretty naive person to just say no at that age.
They may never get the opportunity again. With us being in L1 it’s a no brainer. Don’t blame them int he slightest although having seen Chris Rigg play I’d say he was selling himself short signing for either of those.

Well clearly not always as Dan Neil turned down moves to Leeds and Nufc by all accounts.
He is now an established professional. 2 sides to the coin.

Only watched the u18s a couple of times this season and this kid has looked very good.. Someone will probably correct me but will he have actually signed professional forms to bring that type of fee?

Bit different though as he was already in and around the first team squad wasn't he? Or at least already with a professional contract with first team games looking likely. This is a young lad still trying to make a career for himself.

North Shields born.. highly likely
Im from north of the Tyne. There’s loads of buses go through the tunnel every home game. Hardly impossible he grew up following Safc man.

No it was a couple of years ago.

No. He can't sign a pro contraxt until he's 16 and it can't start until his 17th birthday and can't be longer than 3 years until he turns 18.

Has any of these wonderkids who have been sold actually done anything of note?
Greenwood has made his debut and think premier league debut as well, captains England under 20s and I think made his under 21 debut ( he got called up anyway). Hugill had ogs raving about him and has had decent press. Stephenson captains Liverpool’s under 18s I think.
