Adam Johnson - Ahmad Khan

Sure it's the same offence? Isn't Kahn an actual rapist?

I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt tbh.

Adam Johnson deserved to be locked up but the sentence was surprising.

This MP has previous and the offences worse imo.

A sentence of more than 12 months, suspended or otherwise, means he can no longer be an MP.

He won't get anywhere close to 6 years imo, Johnson's sentence was very lengthly compared to others that are in the news on a daily basis - he was made an example of because he was a Premier League footballer.
I’m not disagreeing but should a MP be more of a role model than a footballer?

Is there a scale of moral responsibility and appropriate punishment?

It’s a rhetorical question, I’m not putting the spotlight on you.

Was it not because he denied all the charges until just before the trial when he admitted 2 out of 5 causing the kid and her family to be abused on the run up to trial. I might be wrong but I'm pretty sure that's what the judge said when they explained the sentence.

What sentence would you think appropriate for Khan?

I know the offences aren't the same in every detail but they're close enough to expect similar sentences imo.

I'd say Khan's offence is worse tbh.
I don't have sufficient knowledge of the sentencing guidelines to be able to make a judgement to be honest.

Anecdotally I'll probably think whatever he gets won't be enough though. Same as with Johnson in that respect, I don't buy that he was hard done to at all.

I didn't say Johnson was hard done to.

I know you didn't. I offered my opinion in the context of what constitutes appropriate sentencing.

There are a few on here who think he was hard done to, which I've never thought right.

Similarly whatever sentence this MP gets I doubt I'll think it's overly harsh.

Guilty of sexual abuse not rape as far as I can see

That's why I'm saying it's similar to Johnson.

The difference is that Johnson didn't get the girl drunk, drag her into a bedroom and assault her.

She was obviously a willing participant although, I do appreciate, that's no defence.

But he was also found guilty, or did he plead guilty of grooming and there was a couple of other counts, can’t remember all the details
