Presentations of former players, Academy of Light teams, Foundation of Light teams, sponsors, womens teams, etc, are never booed.

But the 5 / 10 seconds when some players choose to take a knee to make a symbolic stand against racism is booed. Why do you think that is the odd one out?

Are the people booing because, although they are not racists, they have carefully researched the origins of the Black Lives Matter movement and the history of taking the knee in the USA, and on the basis of that knowledge, they are reject some of the perceived philosophical links between some elements of that movement and political philosophies which, following their research, they feel do not align with their own values?

Or are they just racists who want to disrupt people spending 5 / 10 seconds of silence to take a symbolic stand against racism?

Just looking at the frothing, Neanderthal gammons around me yesterday who were booing, I know which of the two I'd put my money on.

Well said. You can add that no booing our keeper at 1-0 up with 30 seconds to go as he ties his boot laces. These numbskulls would rather boo the knee than sing an anti Madrox or Methven song, or come up with a nice banner / surfer flag against them.

Take the knee against racism, oppression etc when we’ve got genocidal autocrats as owners of clubs and world cups in places there should never be one, where oppression and modern day slavery is rife. It’s also the place England players will not be taking the knee. Hypocritical bullshit!

Im not a big singer at matches. Bit introverted. Never tied a keepers boot laces either. Deffo wouldn't boo a stance against forms of prejudice. You get the point that rather than booing a stance against all forms of prejudice , fans could have a pop at the people who are holding this club back ? Something that all fans should be united against, rather than being offended than a gesture that means nothing but well being to everybody. I understand people like to piss others off by letting them know they oppose anti racist or anti prejudice acts. Imagine willingly exposing yourself as one of those people.

On another note, I found the whole 'Clap for the NHS' thing during lockdown completely cringeworthy. I found the act of standing outside at a set time clapping for people who weren't there totally pointless, it achieved nothing and was cynically latched onto by the government to mask the fact they'd underfunded and underpaid the NHS for the past decade.

Still didn't stand there booing it though. If I had, I would think most people would assume I disagreed with the sentiment of the message and was actively opposing the NHS. That would be a logical thing to assume wouldn't it?

According to the EFL taking the knee isn't only about racism, it's about all manner of injustice, discrimination and whatever. It's well meant but basically meaningless tbh.

Someone booing, of which I'd never be one, may be booing because they find the whole concept too vague or even hypocritical. The barbaric monsters who own NUFC were welcomed into English football yet English football wants us to protest against discrimination, hmmm.

I'm sure some people who boo are racists, and should be condemned, but it's not automatically the case.

The whole thing has been messy, from the start, and isn't having much impact now.

There are much better ways to tackle racism imo.
 
Wars going on in the world, innocent kids dying in Ukraine. Can we not make a tribute to them instead, a lot more important. Went on too long this take the knee shite now. More important stuff gping on
