Spot on - That is why I used the word local.

Both Liverpool and Man U (but esp Liverpool) have such strong socialist identities at the heart which reflects their respective cities. I honestly think had the Saudis bought us then many of our fans would have welcomed them. Maybe they wouldn't have gone on as daft of the Mags but it's naive to think that many of our lot wouldn't. There's posters on here who've admitted they would have been delighted if they'd bought us. Personally I'd have been saddened to see SAFC just become Saudi property but it would have been hard to stop supporting us. The Mags defending their owners is pathetic though and I'd have liked to have thought we wouldn't have been the same but Twitter seems to be full of wankers from everywhere.

Tin hat on.

You cant spend out of this league mate. It needs a structure in place. Now before the LJ sacking fiasco I was seeing positive signs. Not so sure now but other fans I reckon can see steps in the right direction which neuters any hope of any significant protest
We are not even in the play off spots mate and that is after 5 seasons in this league?
Speakman is an absolute disaster - strikers short, Flanagan allowed to leave without a replacement. KLD himself let everyone believe it was a takeover yet he doesn't even own the biggest majority of shares, that is still the chuckle brothers etc. Club shop not open properly, difficulty buying the replica strips etc...absolute disaster!
the whole club just feels so unorganised and amateur

nah..I think thats a fair enough post
but bear in mind , Newcastle have "Suffered" f.ook all
out of the Prem, back up the following year
Now you take say Sunderland, or my club?
stuck down here?
surely yer average Wednesday or Mackem fan, would have more of an excuse for dealing with the devil than the magpies have?
They are still trippin' to Old trafford and Anfield, still up there in the limelight, heres us in the shadows...who would have the better excuse?
I seriously hope it goes t*ts up for all of 'em
Not because I hate newcastle, I haven't got that rivalry you have, and didn't mind them...
(Apart from the media love in thats gone on years, which makes them the Hotbed of football..always annoyed me)
You make excuses for your own clubs shortfalls, cos its your club, no doubt there are some Newcastle fans that are uncomfortable with it, its hardly their fault, Saudi arabia should be treated like Russia is at the minute, total bloody pariahs

Nah.The mags take being wankers to a whole new level.Nobody would go on like they have. Its been scary how much they have been sportswashed. And personally,I would have no qualms about walking away from the club if they took over.Easy decision

Honest and geniune question mate
I always wonder what other fans of other clubs think when the mags play and commentators say stuff like
They love a goal scorer up here ?
They love exciting players that get them off their seat ?
They would rather lose 4-3 than win 1-0 ?(madness I know)
Is it just Sunderland fans who think or even shout fuck off man you idiot ?

Maybe I’d be replaced by a tourist or a casual fan, but they would not be watching the same club I am now
yeah youd be replaced no problem by probably a johnny come lately who wasnt there during the bad times. They'll turn up to watch a rich and ambitious team and in return they'll buy the strips, the merchandise, beers etc and put cash in the club without a moments hesitation.
Thing is, how many owners place nostalgia over profit ? None would be my assumption. Football sold its soul decades ago.

Completely agree mate

I think it's an easy thing to say and a hard thing to do. Thats the reality. Football, and I think especially for fans of NUFC and SAFC is a huge part of your identity. And i think that's what allows owners to take advantage of both of our fan bases in varying ways TBH

I've said all along I'd have been ecstatic if they'd bought us! The thought that Sunderland AFC, a football club I've supported week in week out since the 73/74 season, the club a few miles north of where I'm from and where I live, would be the worlds richest club would have been mindblowing for me.

I'm 54 years old now. My dad started taking me to Roker when I was 5 just after we'd won the Cup so for almost 50 years I've supported this club and never seen us win a thing. Realistically, I live another 25 years I'm likely still never to see us win a thing. It's not really something I want to take to my grave with me so the the thought of spending the years to come challenging for trophies and visiting some of the best cities and stadiums in Europe would have been magic. Give me that over scrambling about in this tinpot league entertaining the likes of Burton Albion and Fleetwood Town, and struggling against them!

I’ll say now that if Sunderland were took over by those evil bar stewards I would not go, it would no longer be the club I support.

I thought the average fan would be outraged by it but obviously not in the mags case. Shame on them
If anything it’s shown the world what these fans are all about.
