I think you've managed to get the wrong end of the stick of everything I've said.

The question to ask Defoe, is about why and how he suddenly retired 2 months into a contract, with 2 months of a season left. Not whether or not he intends to take up tiddlywinks after football.

Immediate retirement through a hamstring injury, that nobody is allowed to talk about. Well that seems reasonable and perfectly normal 😄. I'm not even saying that there's much more to it than that, but that's just ridiculous

Well one of our players has just retired after joining late January and nobody really knows why. Is it because he thinks he can't physically do it, is he injured and that rules him out for the season, is there an issue with the manager or club and he's sacked it off early?

Maybe when he came, his heart was ruling his head and after being out for so long he’s realised he’s not adding anything to the team and potentially keeping a young lad out that might be able to offer more. There’s no one more than me wanted him to succeed, but he knows his own body and he might have thought he just didn’t want to be an embarrassment. It’s a pity he didn’t get more service so he could have had an easy tap in, but the dream return didn’t work and we move on

If Benji is the answer, no matter how likeable he may be, then we're well and truly knackered.

His heart should have continued ruling his head and told him to honour the contract he signed 2 months ago.
