For anybody thinking that they were going to impose sanctions. That's that one put to bed.
I dont think people thought for one second the UK government was going to impose sanctions on Saudi Arabia. Certainly not a tory government.

However, the issue for the mags may come about on a couple of fronts. A independent regulator could create issues; particularly if its truly independent from the government. State owned clubs are clearly damaging the overall ecosystem of the English game and they'd probably go for city and the mags.

The other potential issue could come from the premier league having written assurances that the state is separate from PIF and that's why the takeover was allowed to go through. We all know they aren't separate and greater scrutiny on that could be interesting. If its legally challenged I'm not sure it would stand up.

Where anywhere or anytime in history has a "new" country, become "westernised" within 100 years ????
The issue isn’t westernising my gravy stained friend from the dark side. No no no, it’s all about nana evil regime that has no place on the planet. But hey those 3 points and world football domination will be all that matters and we can turn a blind eye to the killing of innocent children. You can offer me all the best players in the world and all the league titles and stick it up your arse.

I dont think there will be sanctions. But if their ownership of Newcastle starts portraying them in a bad light, I could see them cutting back on investment and essentially selling up earlier than planned. It may take a year or two but I dont see them in this for the long haul if they start getting stick

This whole sports washing business is utter shite.

Saudi Arabia is less than 100 years old as a country, formed in one of the harshest environments on earth and as a result I would suggest made up of the harshest of people.

To expect a new nation, especially in that part of the world, to conform and adopt "western" standards and become a benign society like ours, that developed/matured over centuries, is preposterous.

Is what happens there awful, of course it is, by our standards, but to compare it to what we experience in the west is pure folly.

You can't just flick a switch, it took 200 years for our monarchy to finally move from absolute to constitutional, why should we expect different elsewhere. Even after our centuries of societal development we didn't outlaw the execution of minors until 1908. As Saudi was being formed 1932/33, we were administering India and at that same time, under our governance, average life expectancy in India was 28 years old, twenty fecking eight. Women couldn't vote here until 1928. In my lifetime (yeah I'm old) black people couldn't even get on a fecking bus in the USA.

We're not that great ourselves.

We have to engage and guide and mentor, not use the big stick otherwise we see what happens in that part of the world.

Saudi Arabia has been around for the blink of an eye in historical terms in its societal development.

Meanwhile in this beacon of loveliness we call the UK, we have circa 3000 foodbanks and 200-300 folks a day die of Covid due to government mishandling, at least the 81 who were executed had a fair trial according to the laws of THAT land, our covid victims not so much.

State of this

The mags and Chelsea, the two most hated clubs in the county.

To all you vermin reading this, I hope you are enjoying “having your club back” Which is now being used to sports wash one of the most barbaric and deplorable dictatorships the world has seen.

You lot deserve everything that is coming and more, for welcoming these people with open arms.

Totally agree, they’re actually paying a fortune to have their name dragged through the mud even more than it was before. As a Sportswashing exercise, it’s failing badly.

Your opening sentence is immediately disproved by the rest of your own post, you utter helmet.

It's the hopes to see an end to all wars bit that got me. When the owners he begged to buy them and fully supports with whataboutery are committing Genocide daily. I'd imagine he's your Stereotypical Mag from Fenham who wears his Brown Ale top and hacky grey joggers every day. Nothing else in his life but NUFC. A complete moron.
There's loads of them in Stanley, with the same uniform, who have never been to the land fill.

It’s mad that it’s only now that some of these things are being questioned by press. It’s given them plenty of time to hand round scripts to the masses of sportswashing advisors around the world. Just read the script verbatim please. “But what about your I-phone?” “Not bad people, they want to change”
