Well, these were better terms than they were offered initially, as this round doesn't include that Ukraine "demilitarize," so there's some logic in continuing the fighting and seeing what else they can get Russia to concede.Alternatives are much worse.
They have lost Crimea and the east before all this started.
Indeed, the problem is that innocent people are the victims of keeping this going for longer. I expect the Ukrainian military can keep the fight going for months, but the price paid will be a heavy one. And yet conceding to Russia's demands creates a future they don't want either, under the shadow of threat from Russia. The Kremlin knows they can't afford to keep going on like this forver.
All that will happen is they'll withdraw for the time being, learn from their mistakes this time round, bolster their forces over time and try again later.Indeed, the problem is that innocent people are the victims of keeping this going for longer. There is maybe an argument that they go along with most of the Russian demands, in the hope that a different future emerges in 5-10 years after Putin goes, and they can get back on course free from these shackles. But it's far from certain what that looks like.
Ukraine would become a vasal state. With no Ukrainian military, the Russians could roll in the tanks anytime they wanted.Indeed, the problem is that innocent people are the victims of keeping this going for longer. I honestly think it will spread further than Ukraine if left to unfold as it currently is. Africa is lining up behind Russia and lots of countries are walking an absolute tightrope with commodity prices elevated the way they are. The price of wheat is more now than it was during the food riots in Algeria a decade ago and only going in one direction. We see price inflation affecting our disposable income, to some parts of the world it's having the absolute basics of life or not.
If they do that then the war criminal Putin has won, we all need to keep the pressure onThe Ukraine govt should agree to that as they will end up with nowt and stop this bloodshed.

No, the sanctions should stay until Ukraine is rebuilt with RublesAnd what then? Stop the sanctions ? Welcome Putin back into the fold ?
Macron is under pressure at home cos he's useless and smells. Why has Putin and Macron been in regular phone conversations? Are they best buds or something?
Would you give up part of your garden? The Ukraine govt should agree to that as they will end up with nowt and stop this bloodshed.
I doubt they can afford to keep it going until April. The Kremlin knows they can't afford to keep going on like this forver.
Exactly. It's the political equivalent of bending over and presenting. Why on earth would anyone agree not to defend themselves when there is literally an army invading their country. They won't agree to it.Ukraine would become a vasal state. With no Ukrainian military, the Russians could roll in the tanks anytime they wanted.
They’re still wanting to demilitarise Ukraine as part of this “deal” too so it means next time they’d be totally unopposed. All that will happen is they'll withdraw for the time being, learn from their mistakes this time round, bolster their forces over time and try again later.
This is why they are in the Ukraine now because nothing of note was done in 2014.Exactly. It's the political equivalent of bending over and presenting. Why on earth would anyone agree not to defend themselves when there is literally an army invading their country. They won't agree to it.
