Just been listening to Jeremy Vine on Radio 2 and there were some Russian born women who have been in the UK for 20+ years talking about the conflict. Their families back home in Russia refuse to believe anything other than the official Russian narrative and this has led to families falling out. It is disturbing to find that so many people would unconditionally believe Putin. You cannot put his down to education (except the Pink Floyd Another Brick in the Wall type) since one of the mothers was a surgeon.
 

The hot war didn't start 2022 it started in 2014. Moscow took a bit (Crimea) and then played nice. Now he has took a bit more (the two states and Crimea). Appease him now in anyway and he will be back. It is like watching a frog boil or is based on 'salami tactics'. We've said NATO is inviolate which is heard as do what you want outside of NATO. The danger in rewarding his bad behaviour now is he might try a NATO country next thinking he can talk his way out of a nuclear response after trying it on by threatening his own strike.

My mate married a Russian lass in the summer and she just moved to the UK a couple months ago. I asked how things were going and got this response… seems the older generation all love Putin


Can't get home..if she did she may struggle to get back...she can't access her Russian banks so has no money and can't pay her mortgage on her flat as they won't take her call as she's in the UK. Her dad is pro Putin so all kicking off. Apart from that all is good! Haha. Her Apr is now 34 percent eeek...she needs a job here too...

Why the surprise he had limited access to the UK and USA media and still got us to believe white was black and black was white over Brexit and Trump respectively. With no opposing view no wonder he can gaslight them.
Also just like black kids are taught by their parents how to behave around cops, russians will be taught by their parents not to publicly go against the government. That kind of stuff stays in communities even when it is outdated.
Look at our kowtowing to Right Wing Etonians in this country it is ingrained.

It's a bit like the demographics of Brexit. The old want to get back to the "good old days" whilst the young look forward and are not burdened by nostalgia.
 
Russia seem to have quietly dropped their demand for de-militarisation. They are now taking about signed commitments not to join the EU or NATO but less then they were asking for the other day

With regard to Ukraine becoming neutral, the problem surely is that Putin is a compulsive liar and you couldn't rely on a word he says. Ukraine could agree to his demands and he would conjure up some other horse shit about why he needs to invade. He is a lying, evil, cowardly, wily sack of shit.

Unless he's on kindle unlimited he won't be getting paid by the word. Plus I quite like someone spending 3 pages on describing a room.
