The Ukrainians are pushing the narrative that Russia are a threat to the West as they are targeting nuclear plants and the West would also be impacted by any catastrophe. I’ve seen Zelensky, Poroshenko, other MPs make similar arguments today.
Whilst this is a bit far fetched there is a point here. They are fighting near them and the there has been some suggestion Putin could use one in a false flag.
Not an expert but it seems that they scale of the reactors now are considerably bigger in some cases and if anything did happen there likely also wouldn’t be the containment effort that stopped Chernobyl being even worse.
Modern facilities are a lot more secure but the consensus seems to be if Russia targeted one deliberately or in the right place accidentally it would cause a disaster.

He strikes me as a completely selfish fucker who is increasingly realising his life’s dream of his vision for Russia will never be realised. He is also now fucked one way or the other, he is not going to head off to a couple of decades of peaceful retirement after this. His people will get him or the Global community will.
I think it’s also highly unlikely but we may well be dependent on him not making a selfish irrational decision and/or whatever checks and balances are in the Russian command system
They just dropped off the radar before they headed over towards the black sea coast. there was a tanker in the area too, so i assume they've just refueled as well

NATO wouldn't have Russia but I could definitely see a scenario that Russia join NATO in the coming decades. After all Ukraine was part of the Soviet Union not that long ago and are now very keen for NATO and EU membership.
Russia is a cultured European country and a declining power in denial. With China on course to become the new global superpower it would make sense for North America and Europe to embrace Russia at some point assuming they come into line after Putin.

He's already crafted a scenario whereby he feels justified to invade a neighbouring country (twice!)
We don't risk escalation with a potentially unstable despot.
Those who know him personally are convinced he will do absolutely anything to survive. It’s about survival for him now.
I’m not sure he’d start lobbing nukes at NY or London but how can you ever be sure? He’s killed thousands of his own people. The apartment bombing were him. If he can do that to his own then you can’t rule anything out.
