County Cricket 2022

Nice to see Durham looking after the small but loyal group of supporters who like to watch a bit of 2XI cricket especially at out grounds around the north east. So that's basically the academy team gone and the 2 nds playing mostly away from the region.
One of the most enjoyable matches I watched last season was the 2nds against Lancs at Jesmond. I even made the trek up there. For an extra day it was do enjoyable.

uni game is down as 23rd march at durham racecourse
Durham's ODI featuring England against South Africa will be a day night game. The sides will meet in CLS on July 19th. Meanwhile Surrey will be the visitors when Durham stage their annual game at South Northumberland in the Royal London Cup. That will be on Thursday August 4th.
anyone see club email today, three pre-season games to be played

03 June 2022 Lancashire away The Tyldesleys, Westhoughton

Gail and Brian’s gaff?
20th June is the first "home " game in the SECC 🙄 Only 2 home venues .1 in Yorkshire and the other at HQ . Playing at the Riverside won't bring in extra crowds . What's happened to the outgrounds like Ropery Lane, Feethams, Park Drive and Eastwood Gardens etc 🤔

A lot of games clearly not designated a venue yet. So some of them you mention may host a game, but I know from speaking to the lads involved at Brandon - it’s quite expensive and also a lot of hard work hosting games - it could well be that nowhere has offered.

See above marra, it might’ve been totally out of their hands.

With regards to lack of outgrounds such as Darlington, I vaguely remember it was said it's costing clubs too much money to host such games.
The T20 double header I went to last year was canny, will have to make an effort again weather pending. June 1st double header looks tempting as it's the Queen's Jubilee bank holiday the day after so taking the Wednesday June 1st off would extend the long bank holiday.

Must have nothing to do but just checked my old members yearbooks. Twenty one years ago in 2001 we started the season on April 16th against Durham uni and then started the county championship on April 20th at home to Gloucestershire.
In 2000 we began the championship at home to Surrey on 2nd May but actually started the season on April 15th with the old Benson and Hedges zonal matches.

Pretty pleased with that preparation. Quite how much play we get is anyone’s guess but can’t fault the club for atleast trying to get as much real cricket in as they can before the off.

2011.

Some interesting names in the Uni team.Tom Westley , England and Essex .Jamie Atkinson son of Durham Minor Counties legend Steve ,who played in the 1973 Yorkshire win. Luke Blackaby who played in the TSL for Lanchester during his Uni studies
