Russia invading Ukraine (NEWS/UPDATES)

Anyone else think the Americans aren't quite doing enough here. Energy self-sufficient and largely food self-sufficient and won't be affected by the huge displacement of people. Reluctant to deploy troops after Afghanistan I just wonder whether they see this as more of a European problem. I think Biden has come across as weak in all this too.
Biden is a snivelling little senile, anti-British shithouse. And to think that the Americans actually get to vote for their leader!
They really have more than their share of poor judges of character.

OOPS. Seem to have hit a nerve there. Shut up or put up.Must be my attitude, i never moaned about stuff. Want a better life ? Change it.
No nerve at all, you're just behaving like a twat.

He's been pretty good in this to be fair to him. There's obviously a plan of attack that doesn't involve escalating the situation militarily, which makes a bloody refreshing change.
Quite frankly the US and especially Biden have a lot more experience dealing with Russian hostilities than most.

His speech last Thursday was immense. Listened live on 5Live whilst driving, and had a combination of a lumpy throat and teary with fist pumping and cheering. Proper ‘leader of the free world’ stuff.

Serious question. Reckon the UK would vote Brexit at the min?

Seems that decision was taken after a period of total stability. Ignore the brexit shambles but... Given united scenes in Europe with welcoming refugees & that an independent country has been picked off, reckon UK would still be 51% leave?
The war in Ukraine has brought out the remainers, which is imo shameless opportunism. The whole situation in Ukraine and the UK‘s stance has nothing whatsoever to do with Brexit, and anyone thinking that our membership would make a difference is simple.

In truth the Russian won’t disclose their actual losses at this time and it’s within the Ukrainians interest to inflate their successes therefore we’ve actually no clear idea how it’s going.

This column massing outside Kyiv is a mystery, it’s stationary and visible yet the Ukrainian artillery and airforce are notably absent in targeting this.

Unfortunately suggesting to me that this conflict isn’t going well for the Ukrainians.

this is the site i'm following. they only count losses that are documented with some evidence, my assumption is there's many more but that's all that is

Is it not simply the case that the Russian influence in Brexit has already been mentioned, repeatedly, on the thread? This is why the politics board was created tbh, too many loved having a soapbox to turn every thread, almost regardless of topic, into a political diatribe. In this case there's definitely a case for making the point about brexit etc but the point has been made, repeatedly. A lot of people want to come onto the thread to get updates about what is happening in Ukraine without it being page after page of stuff about the tories and brexit. The situation in Ukraine changes almost hourly, the issue of brexit and Russian involvement in government doesn't. There should be a separate thread, in the politics forum, for wider discussion of the points you're raising. They're perfectly valid, they warrant discussion, but many will feel this isn't the thread for it, or at least there isn't the need to constantly post about it without adding anything new on this thread. Crack on if that's what you want to do, until the mods start thread banning people it's fair game, but it's well over the top to accuse people of wanting to stifle debate when the majority are happy to have the discussion without it constantly derailing a thread that a lot are coming on with no interest in constant discussion of brexit and the tories.
Good point well made. This thread should never have been moved from the politics forum
