Russia invading Ukraine (NEWS/UPDATES)

I hope you are correct, but even if he fails in the longer term, he will have destroyed much of Ukraine. At the very least, I can see no way he will hand back Crimea and Dombas etc.

I don't claim to be correct, I'm just using logic.

His army will be tied up in Ukraine for years to come while Russia teeters on the brink of bankruptcy. I can't see how or why he'd be keen to get himself into more wars, when he's run out of manpower and money.

What you said *isn’t happening*.

You still have a right to protest in this country. About anything you want to.

And there isn’t a single U.K. citizen who doesn’t have the right to vote, or whose right to vote is threatened.

You’re trying to frame things as something they’re not. To suit your weird, warped, anti-U.K. agenda; and you’ve got the brass neck to tell me about “hyperbole” whilst you do it.

Ten countries are independently observed to be less corrupt and free than the U.K. one hundred and sixty none less so. That’s the real world position, and it’ll do for me. I can’t, however, make you take off your tin foil hat and join me. More’s the pity.
Sigh.

Let's take this slow. Remedial comprehension time. *Read what something says*, not *what you think it says*.

Where did I say you couldn't protest in this country? I didn't say that.

So there's no 1 for you. Show me where I said you currently can't protest in the UK, then get back to me.

He already is apparently. Fiona Hill said he doesn’t eat or drink anything when she has been at dinners with him presumably as he is paranoid about poisoning. Someone said he has refused to have the Russian Covid vaccine hence why people sit 5 meters from him on the long tables. And there is quite clearly tension with his inner circle and cabinet which is telling from the footage Russia released.

He may have one or two very close allies, Lavrov seems to be one. Medvedev maybe but there is the history with the flipping of the presidential role

I know a few lads who took the opportunity to get the J&J jab whilst abroad for work to avoid getting sputnik.

Aye that’s it. Row back, comrade.

Be interesting to see if they get it and how the state of the rouble effects it.

Seen someone tweet when you're strapped for cash first thing to cut is the maintenance of the house.

posted about this the other day. it's not just the money or availability of spares etc it's about the discipline of looking after equipment. it looks like the russians are lacking in both.
also throw in the alleged corruption of their military selling gear, buying shit gear and pocketing the difference etc.

an example from afghanistan was that each police vehicle had a fuel allowance. the local police would claim to have say 10 vehicles, though only 2 were roadworthy as the others were scrapped for spares etc but they still got fuel for 10, so they sold the rest of the fuel and pocketed the money. sounds like this is just another version of that.

f***ing hell, apart from what, 3(?) posts on page 995 it’s just people arguing.

@chunkylover53 can you start another thread that’s about the invasion please where we just keep up to date with it. Ideally with links/sources attached to posts.

This has just turned into a typical Friday night thread.

Read your response again mate. Doesn't read like that at all.
It does.
Your final comment says something like the Russians rely on numbers - implying they are shite otherwise, which I agree with.
Shouting ignorant fucker and twat makes you just that.
If you want to be a man and apologise, I'll accept it.

Good question. And if they are in as poor state of repair as their tanks and vehicles they wouldn’t be anything to be scared of anyway!
They have 1500 plus nuclear armed icbm’s with warheads of between 300 and 800 kilotonne yields ready to be launched. One with a 300 kilotonne yield is enough to destroy Londo or Paris. They have another 4500 warheads in reserve. Even if their maintenance has been shit and only 10% worked that’s 150 missiles with yields at least 15 times more destructive than the Nagasaki bomb.
